NETHERLANDS: FC Zaanstreek (1965-1967) / KFC (1965-)

Koog-Wezelstraat, Koog aan de Zaan (KFC = Kooger Football Club, formerly FC Zaanstreek)

Netherlands, province: North Holland

2 VI 2011 / KFC - ZAP 0-1 / District West I, Sunday Leagues 1 & 2 - promotion-relegation play-off (= NL levels 5 & 6)

Note 1: FC Zaanstreek played professional league football at this ground, which was opened in 1965, until 1967, groundsharing with non-leaguers KFC. As FC Zaanstreek merged with Alkmaar '54 to form AZ '67, it was just AZ's reserve squad which continued playing at Koog-Zaan for some seasons, whilst AZ's first team took up playing their games in Alkmaar's Alkmaarderhout

Note 2: Sadly, the main stand, which dated back to the inauguration of the ground in 1965, was consumed in a fire, March 2017; photos 20 to 22, showing the void left after the removal of the remnants of the construction, were taken three months after the calamity took place. Photos 1-19 & 23 date back to the match visit in 2011, with views of the grandstand from all possible angles.
