Note 1: The buildings behind the far goal used to house a beer brewery. Between 1940 and 1963, the Vanderhaegen family produced its own beer brand here, Dendria. In '63, the factory was moved to Aalst; ever since, the premises have been derelict.

BELGIUM: FC Eendracht Hekelgem (1992-2001, 2011-) / FC Eendracht Affligem (2001-2011)

Gemeentelijk Centrum Bellekouter, Hekelgem (FC Eendracht Hekelgem, formerly FC Eendracht Affligem)

Belgium, province: Flemish Brabant

21 I 2017 / FC Eendracht Hekelgem - FC Galmaarden 0-6 / Brabant, VFV Provincial League 3D (= BE level 8)

Note 1: the original FC Eendracht Hekelgem was founded in 1963, becoming a member of Belgium's FA two years later with matricule 6826. In the 1990s, the club was hugely successful, climbing the leagues all the way up to nationwide Division 2 (between 1999 and 2001); in 1992, moving away from their old premises at Haezenweg, a new ground was opened (even sporting an away end behind one of the goals, the terracing of which was later demolished). In 2001, the club merged with FC Denderleeuw to form FC Denderleeuw EH (later to become FC Verbroedering Dender EH when Verbroedering Denderhoutem joined up as well). Henceforward, first team football was played in Denderleeuw's Florent Beeckman stadium. In order to fill the void left by the 2001 merger, a new club was formed in Hekelgem: FC Eendracht Affligem (named after the municipality to which Hekelgem belongs / matricule 9396), which started in Provincial League 4, the bottom of the league ladder. Exactly ten years later, in 2011, the old name FC Eendracht Hekelgem was reinstated.

Note 2: below, a compilation of photos of two visits to the Bellekouter ground: pictures 1-6 = non-matchday visit, September 2018 / pictures 7-17 = match visit, January 2017.
