NETHERLANDS: vv WKE (1966-2016) / WKE '16 (2016-)

Sportpark Grote Geert, Emmen (WKE '16, formerly vv WKE)

Netherlands, province: Drenthe

1 VI 2009 / vv WKE - vv Baronie 2-1 / Sunday Amateur League Championship Play-off (= NL level 3)

Note: vv WKE (= Woonwagenkamp Emmen) saw the daylight in 1966 and was the continuation of a recreational team of the tightly-knit community of Emmen's trailer park at Sluisvierweg. From the early 1980s onwards, after a steep climb up the league ladder, the club were one of the powerhouses of non-league football in the northern part of the Netherlands. In the 2008/2009 season, vv WKE won the nationwide Sunday League title and subsequently also the nationwide non-league title after beating Saturday League champions vv Rijnsburgse Boys. Following several years of financial difficulties, however, the club had to cease all activities in the early months of 2016. In the summer of that same year, a successor was founded in the shape of WKE '16.
