Timeline
  • 1945 / Foundation of a first football club in Saint-Vaast, Football Club (FC) Saint-Vaast, which joins Belgium’s Football Association under registration number 4293. It is unclear if, yet feasible that, the club played at the ground at Rue Omer Thirion from the outset.
  • 1947 / Winning promotion from Hainaut’s Provincial League 3, FC Saint-Vaast accedes to P2 for the first time. In the following 25 years, the club alternates spells in P2 and P3.
  • 1973 / Clinching the title in Provincial League 2B, 8 points ahead of closest rivals RFCE Maurage, FC Saint-Vaast accedes to Hainaut’s Provincial League 1 for the first time.
  • 1975 / In its best season ever as an independent club, FC Saint-Vaast finishes in eighth place in P1.
  • 1976 / Finishing fourteenth in P1, FC Saint-Vaast descends into Provincial League 2 after three years, along with bottom clubs JS Fontainoise and FC Flénu-Sport.
  • 1978 / Bottom of the table at the end of the 1977-78 season, FC Saint-Vaast drops back into Provincial League 3 along with FC Snef.
  • 1981 / Finishing second-last in Provincial League 3C, FC Saint-Vaast descends into Hainaut’s Provincial League 4 for the first time, taking with it bottom club JS Heppignies.
  • 1984 / Clinching the title in P4E, just 1 point ahead of US Haulchin, FC Saint-Vaast manages a return to Provincial League 3 after three years.
  • 1985 / Foundation of a second club in Saint-Vaast, Sporting Club (SC) Saint-Vaast, which joins Belgium’s FA under registration number 9022. It is unclear if this club issued from a recreational football club founded earlier on. SC Saint-Vaast’s ground is situated at Rue Victor Gondat, only a stone’s throw away from FC Saint-Vaast’s at Rue Omer Thiriar.
  • 1986 / SC Saint-Vaast starts its life as a competitive club in Hainaut’s Provincial League 4E, finishing joint-last with JS Cambron-Casteau in 1986-87 with just 7 points picked up in the entire season.
  • 1992 / Second-last in P3C at the end of the 1991-92 season, FC Saint-Vaast drops back into Provincial League 4 along with bottom club FC Mont-sur-Marchienne.
  • 1993 / Runners-up in Provincial League 4D, 7 points behind champions SC Leval, FC Saint-Vaast finds the way back up to P3 without promotion play-offs, due to extra promotion places being available.
  • 1995 / SC Saint-Vaast has its best season, finishing in fourth place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 4C.
  • 1996 / One year after its fiftieth anniversary, FC Saint-Vaast acquires the royal accolade, thus adapting its name to become Royal Football Club (RFC) Saint-Vaast. Meanwhile, SC Saint-Vaast changes its name to become SC Familleureux, moving away to that village on the other, northern side of La Louvière. Most probably, the pitches at Rue Victor Gondat are taken over immediately by FC Saint-Vaast, which must have abandoned its ground at Rue Omer Thiriar around this time. SC Familleureux withdrew its first team, only to return to Provincial League 4 in 2013 as Entente Sportive (ES) Arquennes-Familleureux (following the demise of RFC d’Arquennes earlier that same year, although the move is officially coined as a merger), moving into Arquennes’ Stade Victor Plennevaux, before folding one year later, in 2014.
  • 1998 / In its last season as an independent club, RFC Saint-Vaast finishes in thirteenth place in P3C, thus saving its skin at that level. Following the 1997-98 season, a merger is concluded with neighbouring club RCO Trivièrois (registration number 4302), which plays in Provincial League 1 at the time, but does not dispose of a ground worthy of that level. The new merger club, named Royale Association Sportive (RAS) Trivièroise-Saint-Vaastoise (sometimes abbreviatedly referred to as RASTSV) retains RFC Saint-Vaast’s number 4293 and starts its life in Provincial League 1 at Rue Victor Gondat in Saint-Vaast. Stade Yvan Meurée in Trivières is retained for lower league football and training sessions.
  • 2000 / Finishing second-last in Hainaut’s Provincial League 1, RAS Trivièrois-Saint-Vaastois descends into P2 along with RSC Quevaucamps, FC Chapelle-Godarfontaine, and RSC Havré.
  • 2009 / In its last season under the name RAS Trivièroise-Saint-Vaastoise, the club finishes in third place in P2C. Eleven years after the merger with RCO Trivièrois, the decision is taken upon to undo the merger and continue as two separate clubs. While RAS Trivièroise-Saint-Vaastoise is renamed to become FC Saint-Vaast – retaining the original registration number 4293 but losing the royal epithet – continuing its life in P2, a new club is founded in Trivières, Club Olympic (CO) Trivières, which is admitted as new Belgian FA member under registration number 9531.
  • 2010 / FC Saint-Vaast clinches the title in Provincial League 2B, 5 points ahead of RUSC Anderlues, thus gaining promotion to Hainaut’s Provincial League 1.
  • 2011 / Second from bottom in its first (and only) season in P1, FC Saint-Vaast drops back into Provincial League 2 after just one season, accompanied by R Gosselies Sports and RUFC Ransartoise.
  • 2012 / FC Saint-Vaast withdrew all its teams from competitive football in the course of the 2011-12 season, folding at the end of the campaign; registration number 4293 is erased from the Belgian FA’s official lists. The pitches at Rue Victor Gondat are taken over by CO Trivières, which starts using it for lower team football and training sessions.
  • ± 2019 / The ground at Rue Victor Gondat is abandoned, as CO Trivières' board takes the decision to centre all its activities at Stade Yvan Meurée.
