Belgium, province: Flemish Brabant

Timeline
  • 1948 / Foundation of a football club in Tienen, Sparta Tienen, which is admitted as a new member club of Belgium's Football Association under registration number 5044. The club starts its life in Brabant's Provincial League 3B in 1949. It is unclear if Sparta Tienen played at Terrein Elsenbosweg from the very outset.
  • 1952 / Winning the title in Provincial League 3G, Sparta Tienen accedes to Provincial League 2 - but the adventure does not last longer than one season, with relegation following in 1953.
  • 1964 / Having spent the past eleven seasons in P3, Sparta Tienen now drops out of Provincial League 3A, descending into the newly formed bottom division, Provincial League 4.
  • 1973 / Sparta Tienen changes its name to become Klub 73 Tienen.
  • 1984 / Runners-up in Provincial League 4F, Klub 73 Tienen accedes to Provincial League 3 after twenty consecutive seasons in P4.
  • 1988 / In spite of finishing in third place in P3A one year previously, Klub 73 Tienen now finds itself bottom of the table in that same division at the end of the 1987-88 season, thus dropping back into Provincial League 4.
  • 1991 / Klub 73 Tienen changes its name to become Racing Club (RC) Tienen.
  • 1995 / Although no absolute certainty has been obtained, it is probable that a newly founded club in Tienen, which chooses the name FC Tienen (registration number 9285), starts its life at Terrein Elsenbosweg as groundsharers of KRC Tienen. The new club starts its life in Brabant's Provincial League 4.
  • 1998 / Upon its fiftieth anniversary, RC Tienen acquires the royal epithet, thus officially becoming Koninklijke Racing Club (KRC) Tienen.
  • 2001 / FC Tienen wins the title in Provincial League 4F, thus acceding to Provincial League 3.
  • 2002 / Clinching the title in P4E, KRC Tienen accedes to Provincial League 3, holding its own at that level for two seasons before dropping back into P4 in 2004.
  • 2003 / In its last season as an independent club, FC Tienen wins the title in Provincial League 3A, thus acceding to Provincial League 2. Following the 2002-03 season, FC Tienen concludes a merger with K Union Sint-Gillis (KUSG) Kumtich, resulting in the foundation of K Unie Sint-Gillis Football Club (KUSG FC) Tienen under Kumtich's registration number 2721. The new merger club settles at Kumtich's ground, Terrein Sint-Barbarastraat
  • 2005 / KRC Tienen changes its name to become K Sparta Tienen, thus reverting to the club's initial name.
  • 2013 / In its last season under that name, K Sparta Tienen finishes in thirteenth place in Brabant's Provincial League 4I. Following the 2012-13 season, the club changes its name to become K Sparta Kumtich-Tienen, moving its first team football to Kumtich's Terrein Sint-Barbarastraat. Terrein Elsenbosweg is retained for lower team football and training sessions.
  • 2016 / Having played its first team football at Terrein Sint-Barbarastraat for the past three seasons, K Sparta Kumtich-Tienen - playing in Provincial League 3 at that time - abandons the pitch in Kumtich, moving all activities to Terrein Elsenbosweg.
  • 2017 / K Sparta Kumtich-Tienen concludes a groundsharing agreement with Crossing Vissenaken, moving its first team football to that club's ground at Sint-Pietersstraat. Terrein Elsenbosweg is retained for lower team football and training sessions.
  • 2018 / Finishing in eighth place in Brabant's Provincial League 3A in its last season, K Sparta Kumtich-Tienen is absorbed into Crossing Vissenaken. The club's spiritual home at Elsenbosweg has since been used by recreational teams only, including Buffalo Tienen and Raket Tienen.
