NETHERLANDS: vv Ste.Do.Co (1968-2015) / vv Ste.Do.Co (B) (2015-)

Groeneweg II, Hoornaar (vv Ste.Do.Co - B pitch, former A pitch)

Netherlands, province: South Holland

11 V 2013 / Ste.Do.Co - VV Zwaluwen V 1-3 / Zaterdag Hoofdklasse B (= NL level 4)

Note 1: Ste.Do.Co (= Sterk Door Combinatie) were founded in 1946 as a football club for the villages of Hoornaar and Hoogblokland, both of which, prior to World War II, had had their own clubs, HBS (Houd Braaf Stand) and HVV (Hoogbloklandse Voetbalvereniging) respectively. From the foundation of Ste.Do.Co onwards, the club have played at Groeneweg. Until 1968, Groeneweg I, the current C pitch, was used for first team football; for the following forty-eight years, the ground shown in the photos below was the club's main pitch, only to be replaced in 2015 by Groeneweg III, yet another new main pitch right next to the old one (though the new grandstand was not built until in 2016). Though Groeneweg II has since been used for lower team football only, its stand has been left in place - which results in the odd sight of two stands on back-to-back pitches (cp. last picture in the series below).

Note 2: Below, a combination of photos of two different visits, chronologically: pictures 5-15 = match visit, May 2013 / pictures 1-4 & 16 = non-matchday visit, November 2017.
