BELGIUM: Alberta FC Schilde

Terrein Raymond Delbekestraat, Schilde (Alberta FC Schilde)

Belgium, province: Antwerp

13 VIII 2018 / AFC Schilde - Zandhovense SK Reserves 4-2 / Pre-season friendly

Note: the foundation of Alberta FC Schilde in 2015 has a rather complicated background. In 2014, the board of K Schilde SK made known their intention to merge with KSK 's Gravenwezel, but part of Schilde's members refused to accept their board's proposal. They managed to salvage Schilde's matricule, thereby avoiding a merger in the true sense of the word. Subsequently, 's Gravenwezel and Schilde's boards chose a different approach: by changing KSK 's Gravenwezel's name to SK 's Gravenwezel-Schilde, they received permission from the town council to play their first team matches at Schilde's Rozenhoek ground. K Schilde SK were left with a matricule, but most of their players preferred joining their new groundsharers. As a result, between 2014 and 2016, only lower teams of Schilde SK took part in competitions. In 2016, K Schilde SK went into administration once and for all. One summer prior to that, Alberta FC Schilde saw the daylight, formed by disaffected football aficionados from Schilde. Being barred from the Rozenhoek stadium, they bought a ground at Raymond Delbekelaan, halfway between Schilde and Zoersel, from the Van Pelt family. Previously, only recreational football had been played on this pitch. A covered stand and new clubhouse were erected in 2018.
