Timeline
- 1943 / Foundation of a football club in Leefdaal, a village halfway between Brussels and Louvain, which takes on the name Sporting Club (SC) Leefdaal, joining the Belgian Football Association under registration number 3910. The club may have been the continuation of an older club in the VVB (Vlaamsche Voetbalbond), which discredited itself to such an extent in World War II due to collaboration with the German oppressors, that many clubs left the association voluntarily. Whatever may be true of that, SC Leefdaal was placed in Brabant’s Provincial League 3. It is unclear where the ground of this club was situated.
- 1944 / After finishing in eleventh place in Brabant’s Provincial League 3H, SC Leefdaal withdraws from competitive football.
- 1947 / Following three years of inactivity, registration number 3910 of SC Leefdaal is erased from the Belgian FA’s official lists.
- 1971 / Foundation of a new football club in Leefdaal, which takes on the name Voetbalclub (VC) Leefdaal Vooruit. Joining the Belgian FA, the club acquires registration number 7598. VC Leefdaal Vooruit starts its life as a competitive club in Brabant’s Provincial League 4. It is unclear if, yet very probable that Leefdaal Vooruit played its football at Complex Sint-Veronica – named after the St Verona chapel nearby – from the outset.
- 1976 / Runner-up in Brabant’s Provincial League 4E, VC Leefdaal Vooruit wins promotion to Provincial League 3 for the first time.
- 1977 / Finishing bottom of the table in Brabant’s Provincial League 3D, VC Leefdaal Vooruit drops back into Provincial League 4 after just one season.
- 1986 / Runner-up in Brabant’s Provincial League 4I, VC Leefdaal Vooruit manages a return to Provincial League 3 after nine years.
- 1987 / Champions in Brabant’s Provincial League 3E – incidentally also the club’s first-ever title – VC Leefdaal Vooruit wins back-to-back promotions, acceding to Provincial League 2 for the first time.
- 1988 / In the best season in club history, VC Leefdaal Vooruit holds its own in Brabant’s Provincial League 2B, finishing in eleventh place.
- 1989 / Finishing in third-last place in Brabant’s Provincial League 2B, VC Leefdaal Vooruit drops back into Provincial League 3 after two years.
- 1993 / Finishing bottom of the table in Brabant’s Provincial League 3D, VC Leefdaal Vooruit now finds itself in Provincial League 4.
- 2000 / Runner-up in Brabant’s Provincial League 4H, VC Leefdaal Vooruit accedes to Provincial League 3.
- 2001 / Finishing bottom of the table in Brabant’s Provincial League 3E, VC Leefdaal Vooruit drops back into Provincial League 4 after just one season.
- 2006 / In its last season as an independent club, VC Leefdaal Vooruit finishes in eighth place in Brabant’s Provincial League 4D. Following the 2005-06 season, VC Leefdaal Vooruit concludes a merger with local rivals, Provincial League 3 club Rapid Bertem, resulting in the foundation of VC Bertem-Leefdaal, which retains Rapid’s registration number 5660; Leefdaal’s number 7598 is erased from the Belgian FA’s membership list. For the time being, while completely new facilities are constructed at Complex Sint-Veronica in Leefdaal, first team football moves to the ground of Rapid Bertem at Tervuursesteenweg.
- 2007 / Following one season of first team football in Provincial League 3 at Terrein Tervuursesteenweg in Bertem, VC Bertem-Leefdaal moves the home matches of its flagship team to the renovated Complex Sint-Veronica in Leefdaal, where a new clubhouse with elevated grandstand has been erected. Terrein Tervuursesteenweg is retained for lower team football and training sessions.
- 2009 / VC Bertem-Leefdaal finishes as runner-up in Brabant’s Provincial League 3A, 6 points behind champions KSC Outgaarden.
- 2014 / The main pitch of Complex Sint-Veronica is laid out anew with a synthetic surface. Following this, the B ground of VC Bertem-Leefdaal at Tervuursesteenweg saw less and less action, with home matches of all teams being moved to Leefdaal.
- 2015 / Champions in Brabant’s Provincial League 3D, 1 point ahead of closest rivals SNA Keiberg, VC Bertem-Leefdaal wins promotion to Provincial League 2.
- 2017 / Finishing in third place in Brabant’s Provincial League 2A, VC Bertem-Leefdaal wins promotion to Provincial League 1 due to extra promotion places being on offer following the completion of the split between the French-speaking and Flemish league ladders in the former Province of Brabant. It is the first time in the combined football history in the villages of Leefdaal and Bertem that the Provincial League 1 level is reached.
- 2018 / VC Bertem-Leefdaal manages a respectable sixth place in its first season in Brabant’s VFV Provincial League 1.
- 2019 / Terrein Tervuursesteenweg is given up to make way for a building project, aptly named Rapid Bertem, with 40 apartments.
- 2024 / Finishing in eleventh place in Brabant’s VFV Provincial League 1, VC Bertem-Leefdaal descends into Provincial League 2 alongside SC Hoegaarden-Outgaarden, VK Linden, KHO Bierbeek, VK Liedekerke, KV Tervuren-Duisburg, and bottom club Sporting Kampenhout.
- 2025 / Finishing in fourth place in Brabant’s VFV Provincial League 2B, VC Bertem-Leefdaal qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club is knocked out in R1 by VK Linden (1-5).
- 2026 / Finishing in fifth place in Brabant’s VFV Provincial League 2B, VC Bertem-Leefdaal qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club is eliminated in R1 by VK Holsbeek (1-3).
