BELGIUM: Eendracht Mechelen-Bovelingen (1958-2007) / Eendracht Mechelen-Bovelingen-Opheers = EMBO (2007-) / Opheers VV (2009-2010)

Gelindenstraat, Mechelen-Bovelingen = Marlinne (Eendracht Mechelen-Bovelingen-Opheers, formerly Eendracht Mechelen-Bovelingen / VV Opheers)

Belgium, province: Limburg

24 VII 2019 / EMBO - FC Diepenbeek B 3-7 / Limburg, Provincial Cup - District South-West

Note: in 2007, Eendracht Mechelen-Bovelingen, founded in 1958, merged with Red Star Opheers to form Eendracht Mechelen-Bovelingen-Opheers (usually abbreviated to EMBO); since, first team football has always been played at the ground in Mechelen-Bovelingen, whilst the premises in Opheers were finally abandoned three years after the merger, in the summer of 2010. For the 2009/2010 season, EMBO were not allowed to field a first team after the Belgian FA suspended the club for one year after a bribery affair. While lower teams continued under the flag of EMBO, a new club saw the daylight to permit first team football to stay in Mechelen-Bovelingen: Opheers VV - thereby effectively circumventing the suspension. After this one season, Opheers VV and EMBO merged under the flag of EMBO - heralding the end of Opheers VV, who, in spite of their name, played their matches in Mechelen.
