BELGIUM: KSK Geraardsbergen (B) (1979-1981) / KSV Geraardsbergen (B) (1981-1988) / KSV Geraardsbergen (1988-)

Complex 'Depoorter', Geraardsbergen = Grammont Nederboelare (K Sportvereniging Geraardsbergen, formerly youth academy of KSK Geraardsbergen & KSV Geraardsbergen)

Belgium, province: East Flanders

5 XII 2021 / KSV Geraardsbergen - Voorwaarts Gijzel-Oosterzele 3-2 / East Flanders, Provincial League 2B (= BE level 7)

Note: Sportkring Geeraardsbergen, founded in 1921, acquired the royal epithet in 1950, becoming KSK Geeraardsbergen. In 1965, the spelling of the name was changed from 'Geeraardsbergen' to 'Geraardsbergen' to be in conformity with contemporary orthography. In 1979, the club, who used to play their football at the communal stadium (nowadays called Adriaans Stadion), built a new youth academy at Molendreef in Nederboelare, slightly north of Geraardsbergen's town centre. Two years on, in 1981, KSK Geraardsbergen merged with their town rivals VK Geraardsbergen, becoming KSV Geraardsbergen. In 1988, KSV Geraardsbergen moved away from the communal stadium altogether, henceforth playing their senior team football at Molendreef as well. Later on, the ground was named after honorary president Roger Depoorter. Sometimes erroneously referred to online as the Roger Depoorterstadion, 'Complex Depoorter' will be renamed 'Sportkring 2020' upon the completion of extensive renovation works which have commenced in the fall of 2021. The projected, much bigger clubhouse will accommodate several other sports facilities, including, most notably, a judo academy.
