Timeline
- 1917 / Foundation of a football club in the village of Geervliet, on the island of Voorne-Putten in the Province of South Holland; the new club takes on the name vv PFC, i.e. Puttensche Football Club. It is unclear if PFC played its football at Terrein Rode Dorp, Sportlaan, from the outset, but it is clear the club had settled here by 1932 at its latest. In the first few years of the existence of PFC, the club plays its football in a local competition, the so-called Eilandencompetitie.
- 1921 / Four years after its foundation, vv PFC joins the so-called Rotterdamse Voetbalbond (RVB), the Rotterdam sub-association of the Netherlands’ Football Association (NVB), being placed in RVB (Sunday) Division 3 for the 1921-22 season.
- 1927 / vv PFC wins promotion from RVB Sunday Division 3 to Division 2.
- 1932 / vv PFC drops back from RVB Sunday Division 2 to Division 3.
- 1935 / vv PFC wins promotion from RVB Sunday Division 3 to Division 2.
- 1938 / vv PFC wins promotion from RVB Sunday Division 1 to Division 1 for the first time.
- 1941 / Gaining promotion from RVB Sunday Division 1, vv PFC accedes to District West II’s Sunday League 4 for the first time.
- 1942 / Champions in District West II’s Sunday League 4I, 3 points ahead of closest followers RVV HOV, vv PFC fails to win promotion to Saturday League 3 in the subsequent round of championship play-offs.
- 1943 / vv PFC finishes as runner-up in District West II’s Saturday League 4I, 7 points behind champions PSV Poortugaal.
- 1944 / In an exact repeat of the events of the previous season, vv PFC finishes as runner-up in District West II’s Saturday League 4I, 7 points behind champions PSV Poortugaal.
- 1945 / In order to accommodate the small Protestant community of Geervliet and the mainly Evangelical twin village of Heenvliet, which does not have its own football club, vv PFC enters a second first team into the Saturday pyramid, which starts its existence in RVB Saturday Division 3.
- 1946 / Finishing in joint first place in District West II’s Saturday League 4I with PSV Hermandad, vv PFC meets the club from Rotterdam in a tie-break match, played at the RFC-Terrein (Abraham van Stolkweg), also in Rotterdam, which results in a 3-2 defeat.
- 1948 / The experiment of a regular first team on Saturdays is deemed unsatisfactory, with vv PFC withdrawing its team from RVB Saturday Division 3.
- 1953 / As the Great North Sea Flood of 1953 ravishes Voorne-Putten, vv PFC offers one of the most heavily afflicted clubs, OHVV from Oudenhoorn, a temporary groundsharing agreement at Terrein Rode Dorp.
- 1970 / Finishing bottom of the table in District West II’s Saturday League 4H, vv PFC drops back into the RVB ranks after 29 years.
- 1972 / As the clubhouse and dressing rooms at Terrein Rode Dorp at Sportlaan are consumed in a devastating fire, vv PFC moves to a newly laid-out ground at Toldijk.
- 1973 / vv PFC manages an immediate return to Sunday League 4 after one season in RVB Sunday Division 1.
- 1974 / Finishing bottom of the table in District West II’s Sunday League 4H, vv PFC drops back into RVB Sunday Division 1. Also in 1974, in the neighbouring village of Heenvliet, a football club is founded, which takes the name HVV (Heenvlietse Voetbalvereniging) Bernisse – named after the River Bernisse, which divides the twin island of Voorne-Putten. In contrast to vv PFC, which is non-denominational, HVV Bernisse is a Protestant (Evangelical) club, which disapproves of sporting activities on the Sabbath. From the outset, the club plays its home matches at Sportpark Bernisse, located on Wethouder Gelderlandlaan.
- 1975 / vv PFC manages an immediate return to Sunday League 4 after one season in RVB Sunday Division 1.
- 1980 / Finishing in joint first place in District West II’s Sunday League 4F with SC Feyenoord, vv PFC meets the club from Rotterdam in a tie-break match, played at Sportpark Meeuwenoord Noord in Brielle, the home ground of BVV Wit Rood Wit; with 2,000 spectators attending, the match results in a 3-1 defeat, with PFC thus missing out on an unprecedented promotion to Sunday League 3.
- 1983 / Champions in District West II’s Sunday League 4F, 4 points ahead of closest followers RKVV FIOS, vv PFC wins promotion to Sunday League 3 for the first time.
- 1989 / vv PFC manages a second place in District West II’s Sunday League 3C, 2 points behind champions OVV.
- 1991 / vv PFC manages a second place in District West II’s Sunday League 3C, 1 point behind champions VDL.
- 1992 / Finishing as runner-up in District West II’s Sunday League 3C, 3 points behind champions SC Feyenoord, vv PFC goes on to win the promotion play-offs, thus acceding to Sunday League 2 for the first time in club history.
- 1993 / Finishing in third-last place in District West II’s Sunday League 2B, vv PFC descends into Sunday League 3 after just one season, alongside VDL and bottom club vv OSV Oud-Beijerland.
- 1994 / Finishing in third-last place in District West II’s Sunday League 3C, vv PFC suffers back-to-back relegations, descending into Sunday League 4, along with RKVV FIOS and bottom club vv SSW.
- 1995 / Runaway champions in District West II’s Sunday League 4F, 11 points ahead of closest followers OHVV, vv PFC manages an immediate return to Sunday League 3.
- 2004 / vv PFC manages a second place in District West II’s Sunday League 3C, 6 points behind champions SV DRL.
- 2005 / Champions in District West II’s Sunday League 3D, 2 points ahead of closest rivals vv Hellevoetsluis, vv PFC wins promotion to Sunday League 2. The successful coach is Rob Vuik.
- 2009 / vv PFC manages a second place in Sunday League 2D, 1 point behind champions SV TOGB.
- 2010 / Finishing in third place in Sunday League 2D, vv PFC qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club edges past ADO Den Haag AV in R1 (3-3 aggr. & penalty shoot-out), only to suffer elimination in R2 at the hands of SV TOGB (2-1 aggr.).
- 2012 / Runner-up in Sunday League 2D, 9 points behind champions RC&VV VOC, vv PFC qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club manages successive wins over vv Wilhelmus (4-2 aggr.) and DVV Delft (5-2 aggr.), resulting in the club acceding to Sunday League 1, by then the third step of the non-league pyramid in the Netherlands, for the first time ever. The successful coach is Rob Vuik.
- 2013 / Finishing in third-last place in Sunday League 1B, vv PFC has to stave off relegation in a set of promotion-relegation play-offs. Defeating RKSV Spartaan ’20 in R1 (3-2 aggr.), the club is knocked out in R2 by PSV Poortugaal (5-4 A.E.T. aggr.). However, due to extra places in Sunday League 1 turning out to be available, vv PFC is ultimately saved from relegation. After the 2012-13 season, coach Rob Vuik leaves the club after a tenure of eleven years. Also in 2013, vv PFC merges its youth academy with neighbour club HVV Bernisse from Heenvliet, resulting in the foundation of a so-called Samenwerkende Jeugdorganisatie (SJO) or Combined Youth Academy, which is given the name GHVV ’13, i.e. Geervliet-Heenvliet-Voetbalvereniging 2013, with the clear goal of bringing about a fully-fledged merger between the two clubs in due course.
- 2014 / Coached by Francis Janse, vv PFC finishes bottom of the table in Sunday League 1B, resulting in the club being retrograded into Sunday League 2, alongside SV TOGB and SV Nieuwkoop.
- 2015 / Runaway champions in Sunday League 2D, 12 points ahead of closest rivals SVDPW, vv PFC manages an immediate return to Sunday League 1. The successful coach is Francis Janse.
- 2016 / Finishing in second-last place in Sunday League 1B with coach John Stougie, vv PFC descends into Sunday League 2 after just one season yet again, along with SV Wateringse Veld GONA and bottom club RKSV GDA. Following the 2015-16 season, three years after the merger of the youth academies of the two clubs, a fully-fledged merger is achieved between vv PFC and HVV Bernisse, which had suffered relegation from Saturday League 3 in its last season as an independent club, resulting in the foundation of GHVV ’13. For the following four seasons, pending a new sports complex halfway between the two villages, first team football is alternately played at Sportpark Bernisse in Heenvliet (each first half of the season) and Sportpark Toldijk in Geervliet (each second half of the season). Withdrawing from the Sunday pyramid altogether, GHVV ’13 allows its first team to take over the place of HVV Bernisse in Saturday League 4.
- 2017 / Champions in District West II’s Saturday League 4F, 1 point ahead of closest rivals vv Rockanje, GHVV ’13 wins promotion to Saturday League 3.
- 2020 / After four years of subdividing club activities between Sportpark Toldijk in Geervliet and Sportpark Bernisse in Heenvliet, GHVV ’13 now moves into its new, purpose-built Sportcomplex Guldeland, on the western outskirts of Geervliet.
