Terrein Thontlaan, Denderleeuw (formerly FC Denderleeuw)

Belgium, province: East Flanders

February 2019 / no match visited

Note: FC Denderleeuw, founded in 1952, started its life on a pitch situated at Kiekenborrestraat / Fonteinstraat. In the second half of the 1970s (exact year unknown), the club moved across the railway to Terrein Thontlaan. Eventually, following its promotion to National Division 2 the previous year, the club abandoned this ground for the Gemeentelijk Sportstadion Armand De Pelsmaeker, renamed Florent Beeckmanstadion, in 1997 - replacing its town rivals K Standaard SV Denderleeuw, who moved into a much smaller ground at Walleken, renamed in honour of Armand De Pelsmaeker ten years later. As for the old stadium at Thontlaan, it remained in use for youth matches and training purposes by FC Denderleeuw and its successor clubs until being abandoned in 2016 to be taken over by a local dog agility club.
