Stade Jéricho, Chimay (formerly Chimay Sport / US Chimay / AS des Anciens du Collège de Chimay / FC Chimay / B ground of AS Chimay-Virelles)

Belgium, province: Hainaut = Henegouwen

November 2021 / no match visited

Note: The ground shown in the pictures below was probably in use from the early 1930s onwards, when a first club, called Chimay Sport, was founded, which merged with SC Chimacien in 1937 to form US Chimay, which ceased activities the following year already. During the war years, a new Chimay Sport was formed, which held out for eight years. In the 1950s and early 1960s, the town of Chimay was represented in Hainaut's Provincial Leagues by a club with the highly original name Association Sportive des Anciens du Collège de Chimay. After some years of inactivity at Stade Jéricho, yet another new club saw the daylight: Football Club Chimay, founded in 1969 (matricule 7323). FC Chimay merged with Union Sportive Virelloise in 1992, forming Association Sportive Chimay-Virelles, retaining Virelloise's matricule (7593). Since, first team football has been played at Virelles' ground, whilst the premises in Chimay remained in use for lower team football and training purposes until 2007, when the ground was abandoned once and for all.
