Note: though the Marble Stadium, the annex of the Stadio Olimpico and part of Mussolini's plans to hold the 1940 Olympics (which were never held, though the stadium was used for the 1960 Games), never was the fixed venue of any football team, the two last photos in this series are proof that the pitch is sometimes in use for football purposes. I have once heard rumoured that the officials of the Vatican organize an annual football tournament here, but I have never managed to find confirmation of this.
