Timeline

• 1959 / Foundation of a football club in Zepperen, a village in the vicinity of Saint-Trond (Sint-Truiden) in the Province of Limburg; the new club, which takes on the name Voetbalkring (VK) Zepperen, joins the Belgian Football Association (URBSFA / KBVB) with registration number 6209. VK Zepperen, which plays its football on Voetbalterrein Het Dekken and its side-pitch from the creation of the club onwards, is placed in a league of reserves’ teams for the 1959-60 season.
• 1960 / In its first competitive season, VK Zepperen is placed in Limburg’s Provincial League 3.
• 1963 / Clinching the title in Limburg’s Provincial League 3E, VK Zepperen wins promotion to Provincial League 2 for the first time.
• 1966 / Obtaining the title in Limburg’s Provincial League 2B, VK Zepperen wins promotion to Provincial League 1 for the first time.
• 1973 / Finishing bottom of the table in Limburg’s Provincial League 1, VK Zepperen drops back into Provincial League 2 after seven seasons.
• 1976 / Clinching the title in Limburg’s Provincial League 2C, VK Zepperen manages a return to Provincial League 1 after an absence of three years.
• 1988 / Runner-up in Limburg’s Provincial League 1 behind champions K Eendracht VV Genenbos, VK Zepperen manages an unprecedented promotion to National Division 4, either directly or via a set of promotion play-offs.
• 1989 / In the best season in club history, VK Zepperen manages an eighth place in National Division 4C.
• 1990 / Finishing in second-last place in National Division 4C, VK Zepperen drops back into Provincial League 1 after two years, alongside K Neeroeteren FC and bottom club K Zonhoven VV.
• 1992 / Finishing in third-last place in Limburg’s Provincial League 1, VK Zepperen finds itself in Provincial League 2 for the first time in nineteen years.
• 1993 / Champions in Limburg’s Provincial League 2C, VK Zepperen manages an immediate return to Provincial League 1.
• 1995 / Finishing bottom of the table in Limburg’s Provincial League 1, VK Zepperen drops back into Provincial League 2.
• 1998 / Finishing in third-last place in Limburg’s Provincial League 2C, VK Zepperen descends into Provincial League 3, along with VV Nieuwerkerken and bottom club HIH Hoepertingen.
• 2000 / Finishing in sixth place in Limburg’s Provincial League 3D, VK Zepperen goes on to win the promotion play-offs, thus acceding to Provincial League 2.
• 2009 / As the club celebrates its fiftieth anniversary, VK Zepperen acquires the royal epithet, thus officially becoming Koninklijke Voetbalkring (KVK) Zepperen.
• 2010 / Runner-up in Limburg’s Provincial League 2B, 8 points behind champions FC Torpedo Hasselt, KVK Zepperen qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club knocks out KVV Lummen in R1 (3-3 aggr. & away goals), only to suffer a comprehensive defeat in R2 against Bregel Sport (8-3 aggr.).
• 2011 / Champions in Limburg’s Provincial League 2A, 2 points ahead of closest rivals Daring Huvo Jeuk, KVK Zepperen wins promotion to Provincial League 1 after an absence of sixteen years at that level. Also in 2011, the side-pitch of Voetbalterrein Het Dekken is equipped with a synthetic surface.
• 2012 / Finishing in third-last place in Limburg’s Provincial League 1, KVK Zepperen drops back into Provincial League 2 after just one season, alongside KVV Heusden-Zolder, KSK Meeuwen, and bottom club Groen Star Beek.
• 2013 / Runner-up in Limburg’s Provincial League 2B, 5 points behind champions – and derby rivals – VV Brustem Centrum, KVK Zepperen qualifies for the promotion play-offs; eliminating Sporting Grote-Heide in R1 (3-1 aggr.), the club suffers defeat in the final against Daring Huvo Jeuk (4-0 aggr.), going on to miss out on the last promotion ticket in a lucky loser play-off against FC Melosport Zonhoven (8-4 aggr.).
• 2014 / Champions in Limburg’s Provincial League 2B, 2 points ahead of closest followers KFC Moedige Duivels Halen, KVK Zepperen manages a return to Provincial League 1 after an absence of two years.
• 2015 / In its last season as an independent club, KVK Zepperen manages a ninth place in Limburg’s Provincial League 1. Following the 2014-15 season, a merger is concluded between KVK Zepperen and VV Brustem Centrum, the result being the foundation of Koninklijke Voetbalvereniging (KVV) Zepperen-Brustem. In a compromise deal, the new club retains registration number 8250 of Brustem, with first team football moving to Voetbalterrein Het Dekken in Zepperen. The Hemelrijkstadion in Brustem is retained for lower team football and training sessions. In the 2015-16 season, KVV Zepperen-Brustem takes the place of KVK Zepperen in Provincial League 1.
• 2017 / Finishing in fourth place in Limburg’s Provincial League 1, KVV Zepperen-Brustem qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club manages a third place in a group of four, behind FC Heur-Tongeren and K Bilzerse-Waltwilder VV, but ahead of Daring Huvo Jeuk – insufficient for a ticket for national league football, as only the top-two clubs win promotion from this play-off.
• 2023 / Champions in Limburg’s Provincial League 1, 4 points ahead of runner-up K Achel VV, KVV Zepperen-Brustem wins promotion to VFV Amateur Division 3, the fifth and lowest tier of the Belgian national league pyramid, 33 years after predecessor club VK Zepperen last featured at the national level. The success also creates a problem, as the main pitch at Voetbalterrein Het Dekken does not have the measurements required for national league football – with requirements apparently having changed since the days of VK Zepperen in National Division 4 in the late 1980s. The club is given a respite of two seasons to find a solution.
• 2024 / Finishing in third place in VFV Amateur Division 3B, KVV Zepperen-Brustem qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club suffers defeat in R1 against FC Esperanza Pelt (2-1).
• 2025 / After two seasons of national league football on the main pitch of Voetbalterrein Het Dekken, which does not have the correct requirements for national league football, KVV Zepperen-Brustem moves its first team football to the synthetic side-pitch of the ground. Two small prefab stands are placed alongside the touchline of the pitch to give shelter to spectators.
