Timeline
  • 1972 / Foundation of FC Saint-Jean, future users of the pitch at Rue de Wattrelos in Ramegnies-Chin, a village on the northwestern outskirts of Tournay (Tournai, Doornik). Originally, FC Saint-Jean is a recreational team, playing its football at the Terrain Militaire at Quai du Luchet d’Antoing in Tournay proper.
  • 1974 / Foundation of a football club in Ramegnies-Chin, which takes on the name Cercle Sportif (CS) Ramegnies-Chin. Acquiring membership of the Belgian Football Association (URBSFA / KBVB) with registration number 8194, CS Ramegnies-Chin most probably settled on the ground at Rue de Wattrelos right at the start of its existence.
  • 1975 / CS Ramegnies-Chin starts its existence as a competitive club in the bottom division of Hainaut’s provincial leagues, Provincial League 4.
  • 1978 / After six years of only playing friendly matches, FC Saint-Jean joins a recreational football league, the so-called Championnat de l’Amitié.
  • 1981 / Moving away from the Terrain Militaire, FC Saint-Jean settles at the newly laid-out municipal pitch, Stade Bozière, situated at the eponymous Avenue Bozière in Tournay. In the following 23 years, the club moved two more times, playing in Vaulx (it is unclear if they used the Plaine de la Trondeloire or Stade Philippe Rasseneur) and Gaurain-Ramecroix (it is unclear if they used the ground at Chaussée de Bruxelles in Ramecroix or the pitch at Rue Joncquerelle in Gaurain).
  • 1992 / In its last season as an independent club, CS Ramegnies-Chin manages a sixth place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 4A. Following the 1991-92 season, a merger is concluded with FC Résidence Lamain, a club founded in 1975 (registration number 8294). The newly formed FC Ramegnies-Lamain retains registration number 8194 of CS Ramegnies-Chin, with all activities probably moving to Rue de Wattrelos in Ramegnies straightaway – and with Lamain’s pitch at Rue des Morts being abandoned. As FC Résidence Lamain descended from Provincial League 2 into Provincial League 3 in the 1991-92 season, the new merger club starts its existence at that level.
  • 1993 / Finishing bottom of the table in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3A, FC Ramegnies-Lamain suffers relegation in its first season as a merger club, descending into Provincial League 4 along with the club in second-last place, SC Ramevinnes.
  • 1995 / Runner-up in Hainaut’s Provincial League 4A, 1 point behind champions JUS Maubray, FC Ramegnies-Lamain goes on to win the promotion play-offs, thus managing a return to Provincial League 3 after two years.
  • 1996 / In the best season in club history, FC Ramegnies-Lamain manages an eighth place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3A.
  • 1997 / Finishing bottom of the table in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3A, FC Ramegnies-Lamain is retrograded into Provincial League 4, alongside the club in second-last place, FC Marquain. However, following the 1996-97 season, FC Ramegnies-Lamain folds, ceasing all activities; registration number 8194 is erased from the Belgian FA’s membership list. In the following years, the pitch at Rue de Wattrelos sees little activity, the only users in those years probably being a recreational team of Belgian army employees.
  • 2004 / After seven years of having been left without a regular club playing at the ground, the pitches at Rue de Wattrelos in Ramegnies-Chin are taken over by FC Saint-Jean, the recreational club from Tournay founded in 1972, which plays its football the Championnat de l’Amitié.
  • 2011 / FC Saint-Jean joins the Belgian FA after an existence of 39 years as a recreational club, being admitted as a new member club with a slightly adapted name, FC Saint-Jean Tournai, under registration number 9560. FC Saint-Jean Tournai starts its existence as a competitive club in Hainaut’s Provincial League 4.
  • 2012 / In its first season in Hainaut’s Provincial League 4A, FC Saint-Jean Tournai manages a respectable fourth place; thus qualifying for the promotion play-offs, the club knocks out ASC Havinnes B in R1 (1-2), only to suffer elimination in R2 at the hands of RSC Templeuvois B (2-3).
  • 2017 / After thirteen years of playing at Rue de Wattrelos in Ramegnies-Chin, FC Saint-Jean Tournai abandons the ground to settle on the pitch of the former JS Orcq at Résidence Charles Lelubre in Orcq. Since, the facilities in Ramegnies-Chin have remained unused.
