Simply photos of matchday and stadium visits, mainly in Belgium and the Netherlands, occasionally in Britain or farther afield. Additionally, some historical information about grounds and clubs is provided. Others call it 'groundhopping', whereas I prefer 'football tourism'... but things have run slightly out of control: therefore, this is Extreme Football Tourism.

BELGIUM: KFC Linda Olen (1935-2025) / Olen United (B) (2024-)
Terrein Kattebos, Olen Olen-Centrum (B ground of Olen United, formerly KFC Linda Olen)
Belgium, province: Antwerp = Antwerpen
28 XI 2010 / KFC Linda Olen - KAC Olen 1-2 / Antwerp, Provincial League 2B (= BE level 6)
Belgium, province: Antwerp = Antwerpen
28 XI 2010 / KFC Linda Olen - KAC Olen 1-2 / Antwerp, Provincial League 2B (= BE level 6)
Timeline
- 1935 / A club from Olen-Centrum, in the rural eastern half of the Province of Antwerp, joins the Belgian Football Association (URBSFA / KBVB) with the name FC Linda Olen, acquiring registration number 2295 upon being accepted as a new member. Probably, though, prior to making this leap, this club was a member of the so-called KVB or Kempische Voetbalbond, which was integrated into the Belgian FA in the years 1933-35. It is unclear if FC Linda Olen played its football at Terrein Kattebos from the outset. For the 1935-36 season, the club is placed in Antwerp’s Regional League 3D (3e Gewestelijke D).
- 1939 / As the Belgian army mobilises its troops in the summer of 1939 in the face of the looming threat of a German invasion – which would come to pass in the spring of the following year – many football clubs find themselves unable to fill their first teams, given that so many players have been called up to serve. In the case of FC Linda Olen, the club even withdraws its first team from Antwerp’s regional divisions for the 1939-40 season.
- 1941 / After one year in a provisional league, organised in the months after the German occupation of Belgium in May 1940, FC Linda Olen now makes its return to regular league football in Antwerp’s Regional League 2 – with no Regional League 3 being organised during the war years.
- 1942 / Finishing in thirteenth place in Antwerp’s Regional League 2D, FC Linda Olen descends into Regional League 3 (renamed Provincial League 3 in 1952).
- 1958 / FC Linda Olen finishes as runners-up in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3E, 4 points behind champions Blauwvoet Oevel.
- 1963 / Finishing in joint first place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3B with FC Tongerlo, FC Linda Olen goes on to meet its regional rivals in a tie-break match, played at Blauwvoet Oevel’s ground. As Linda walks away with a clear-cut 4-1 win, the club accedes to Provincial League 2.
- 1984 / Acquiring the royal epithet, FC Linda Olen officially adapts its name to become Koninklijke Football Club (KFC) Linda Olen.
- 1987 / Finishing in third-last place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2B, KFC Linda Olen drops back into Provincial League 3 after 24 (!) years.
- 1990 / Champions in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3D, KFC Linda Olen wins promotion to Provincial League 2.
- 1993 / Champions in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2B, KFC Linda Olen wins promotion to Provincial League 1 for the first and only time in club history.
- 1994 / In the best season in club history, KFC Linda Olen narrowly staves off relegation in Antwerp’s Provincial League 1, finishing in third-last place in the top provincial division.
- 1995 / Finishing in second-last place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 1, KFC Linda Olen drops back into Provincial League 2 after two years.
- 1997 / Former KFC Linda Olen youth academy midfielder Rocky Peeters makes his professional league debut at KFC Verbroedering Geel at the age of eighteen. Peeters would go on to have spells at KRC Zuid-West-Vlaanderen, KSV Roeselare, K Sint-Truidense VV, Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen, EN Paralimni, KVK Tienen, KVK Tienen-Hageland, and KOSC Wijgmaal, eventually hanging up his boots in 2018.
- 2000 / Finishing bottom of the table in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2C, KFC Linda Olen drops back into Provincial League 3.
- 2005 / Runners-up in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3C, 1 point behind champions KFC Meerle, KFC Linda Olen goes on to win the promotion play-offs, thus managing a return to Provincial League 2 after an absence of five seasons.
- 2006 / Finishing in second-last place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2B, KFC Linda Olen drops back into Provincial League 3 after just one season, along with KFC Tongerlo and bottom club K Zandhovense SK.
- 2007 / Runners-up in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3C, 5 points behind champions KFC Oosterzonen Oosterwijk, KFC Linda Olen goes on to win the promotion play-offs, thus managing an immediate return to Provincial League 2.
- 2012 / Finishing in fourth place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2B, KFC Linda Olen qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club is knocked out in R1 by K Rochus Deurne (5-1 aggr.).
- 2014 / Finishing in fifth place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2B, KFC Linda Olen qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club once again suffers elimination at the hands of K Rochus Deurne in R1 (4-3 aggr.).
- 2015 / Finishing in third place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2B, KFC Linda Olen qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club is knocked out in R1 by KVV Duffel (5-2 aggr.).
- 2016 / Finishing in sixth place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2B, KFC Linda Olen qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club edges past KFC Sint-Job in R1 (5-4 aggr.), only to suffer elimination at the hands of FC Berlaar-Heikant in R2 (5-1 aggr.).
- 2018 / Finishing in third-last place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2B, KFC Linda Olen drops back into Provincial League 3 after eleven years, along with KFC Herenthout and bottom club KSV Oud-Turnhout. In December 2018, the club has to abandon its C pitch, Terrein De Weeën, a training facility located at a stone’s throw from Terrein Kattebos, as its owners, the Verstappen family, refuse to extend the club’s lease agreement.
- 2023 / Finishing in third place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3C, KFC Linda Olen qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club is eliminated in R1 by KFC Ezaart Sport (2-1).
- 2024 / Finishing in thirteenth place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3C, KFC Linda Olen has to save its skin in a set of relegation play-offs against SK Peulis and KSV Aartselaar, going on to defeat the former (2-0) and draw in an away tie against the latter (0-0) – thus staving off relegation along with KSV Aartselaar.
- 2024 / As preparations get underway for a fully fledged merger, KFC Linda Olen allows its youth academy to be integrated into that of Olen United – in itself a merger between KAC Olen (registration number 1741) and SK Achter Olen (number 2025) in 2017, which retained the registration number of the latter. From the summer of 2024 onwards, parts of the activities of Olen United’s youth academy are moved to Terrein Kattebos.
- 2025 / Having only managed six points in the first half of the season in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3C, with an unprecedented relegation to Provincial League 4 looming large, KFC Linda Olen withdraws its first team from regular league football in January 2025. However, in the following months, the last details are thrashed out, which allow the club to be absorbed by Olen United. First team football of Olen United continues to played at Terrein Gestelstraat in Sint-Jozef-Olen, home ground of the former KAC Olen, with Terrein Kattebos remaining in use for lower team football and training sessions.

Note 1: KFC Oosterzonen, founded in 1943, were renamed Lierse Kempenzonen in 2018, filling the void left at Lier's Herman Vanderpoortenstadion (nicknamed "'t Lisp") after the demise of K Lierse SK. Since the name change, the stadium in Oosterwijk was Lierse Kempenzonen's B ground. In 2020, they were joined by VC Immer Oost Oosterwijk - in effect the new name of VC Immer Voort after the eviction of this club from their ground at Groenstraat, Voortkapel (2020). In 2023, when Lierse Kempenzonen broke its ties with Oosterwijk and Terrein Bovemansstraat, VC Immer Oost welcomed a new groundsharer in the shape of KFC Houtvenne, who had previously moved its first team football to KVC Westerlo's Stadion 't Kuipje veld 6. KVC Westerlo also moved part of its youth academy to Oosterwijk, renaming the ground 'Camp Westel' - and with the club's B team entering the football pyramid in mid-2024, Terrein Bovemansstraat was chosen as the home ground for that team as well.
