BELGIUM: RFC La Préalle (1927-2002) / AS Herstalienne SR (±2002-2009) / FC Herstal (2009-)

Rue Émile Muraille, Herstal (FC Herstal, formerly RFC La Préalle / AS Herstalienne SR)

Belgium, province: Liège = Luik

11 XII 2016 / FC Herstal - Jeunesse Aischoise 1-1 / ACFF, Div. 3B (= BE level 5)

Note: The premises at Rue Emile Muraille used to be home to FC La Préalle (founded in 1927 as FC La Préalle, matricule 2873, as a refoundation of an earlier La Préalle FC, which had been one of four merging partners of AS Herstalienne in 1919) - officially RFC La Préalle since 1954 when the club obtained the royal epithet. It is not clear if this club played at Rue Muraille from its foundation in the 1920s onwards. RFC La Préalle, which played in Liège's Provincial League 1 for some time, folded in 2002, ceasing all activities. Probably that same summer - or possibly one or two years earlier - the AS Herstalienne (Société Royale, SR, since 1951) mentioned above moved into the ground after having been forced out of its own Stade Pré-Wigy by AC Milanello Herstal in 1998 - and after having continued a twilight existence for some more years on the side pitches of that ground. In 2009, AS Herstalienne SR merged with JS Molise (JSM) Herstal (matricule 8737) to form FC Herstal, retaining AS's matricule 82.
