Timeline
  • 1961 / Foundation of a football club in Boekhoute, East Flanders, which takes on the name FC Zeemeeuw Boekhoute. The club, which acquires registration number 6453 upon joining Belgium’s Football Association, starts its life in East Flanders’ Provincial League 3. It is unclear if the club played its football at Terrein Graafjanstraat from the outset.
  • 1969 / Finishing 12th in Provincial League 3A, FC Zeemeeuw Boekhoute descends into the newly formed Provincial League 4.
  • 1973 / FC Zeemeeuw Boekhoute changes its name to become Sportkring (SK) Boekhoute.
  • 1997 / After 28 consecutive seasons in P4, SK Boekhoute now clinches the title in P4A, thus earning promotion to Provincial League 3.
  • 1999 / In the best season in club history, SK Boekhoute finishes as runner-up in P3A.
  • 2000 / Finishing in fourth place in P3A in its last season as an independent club, SK Boekhoute concludes a merger with KFC Assenede, resulting in the foundation of FC Assenede-Boekhoute – with Assenede’s registration number 4744 being retained. The new club’s first team plays its home matches at Assenede’s Van Hoorebekestadion, with Terrein Graafjanstraat in Boekhoute being retained for lower team football and training sessions.
  • 2007 / A new club is founded in Boekhoute, VC (Voetbalclub) Boekhoute, which acquires membership of Belgium’s FA under registration number 9498. Taking over Terrein Graafjanstraat from FC Assenede-Boekhoute (which soon reinstates the name FC Assenede after the foundation of VC Boekhoute), the new club starts its life in East Flanders’ Provincial League 4. 
  • 2010 / Finishing in fifth place in Provincial League 4A, VC Boekhoute qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which it finishes last in a group with SK Herdersem and KFC Baasrode – with Boekhoute being the only one of three to miss out on a ticket for P3.
  • 2011 / Finishing in fourth place in Provincial League 4A, VC Boekhoute qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which it finishes last in a group with KV Sint-Gillis and FC Poesele – with Boekhoute being the only one of three to miss out on a ticket for P3.
  • 2012 / Finishing in fourth place in Provincial League 4A, VC Boekhoute qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which it is eliminated in R1 at the hands of KOFC Rupelmonde (2-0).
  • ± 2016 / The ground at Graafjanstraat is renamed Leonie Ryckaertstadion in honour of the disabled daughter of the club’s chairman.
  • 2017 / Finishing in third place in Provincial League 4A, VC Boekhoute qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which it is eliminated in R1 at the hands of VV 9000 Gent (4-2).
  • 2018 / Champions in P4A with an advantage of 11 points over closest followers KVV Klauwaarts Bassevelde, VC Boekhoute wins promotion to Provincial League 3.
  • 2022 / Finishing last in P3A with just 16 points, VC Boekhoute drops back into Provincial League 4 along with SV Zaffelare B. After the 2021-22 season, the decision is taken to cease all activities, with registration number 9498 being erased from the membership list of Belgium’s FA. The Leonie Ryckaertstadion is taken over by FC Lembeke, who have since made use of the ground for training sessions.
  • 2023 / FC Anatolia Gent, which had groundshared with Standaard Muide at Dukkeldamstadion (Terrein Galvestonstraat) in Ghent the previous season, moves their first team football to the Leonie Ryckaertstadion in Boekhoute.
  • 2024 / Champions in P4A, 14 points ahead of closest followers KVV Zomergem, FC Anatolia Gent wins promotion to Provincial League 3. That summer, the club leaves the Leonie Ryckaertstadion, moving to Terrein Kloosterstraat in Merelbeke.
