Sportpark Onnerweg "De Koepel", Haren (vv Haren & vv Gorecht)
Netherlands, province: Groningen
3 VII 2021 / vv Gorecht - vv Glimmen 3-0 / Friendly "Harry Hoeksema Memorial"
Note 1: vv Haren, founded in 1935, moved to Sportpark Onnerweg in 1953 and have played there ever since. In 1965, they were joined by vv Gorecht, a newly founded Saturday League club, who, however, played their games at a main pitch of their own. After having moved away to a different ground, Sportpark Oosterweg, in 1975, vv Gorecht returned to Onnerweg in 2011. After a thorough refurbishment, the ground was given a new name, "De Koepel"; since Gorecht's return, the two clubs have shared the pitch shown in the photos below - exclusively used by vv Haren up to that point (1953-2011) - as their main pitch.
Note 2: vv Gorecht, a club founded by Haren's protestant community to counterbalance the non-religious (and Sunday League club) vv Haren, were named after the town's eponymous protestant church.
Note 3: the match which I attended, vv Gorecht's first home game after the Covid lockdown, was dedicated to the memory of club volunteer Harry Hoeksema, who passed away in January 2021. After the match, following Mr Hoeksema's own wishes, part of his ashes were scattered on the main pitch.
