BELGIUM: SC Orsmaal (1968-2023)

Terrein Helen-Bosstraat, Orsmaal-Gussenhoven (formerly SC Orsmaal)

Belgium, province: Flemish Brabant

7 IV 2013 / SC Orsmaal - Standaard Neerwinden 2-4 / Brabant, Provincial League 4I (= BE level 8)

Timeline
  • 1968 / Foundation of a recreational football club in Orsmaal-Gussenhoven. The club, Sporting Club (SC) Orsmaal probably played at Terrein Helen-Bosstraat from the outset, though no certainty is to be had on this matter. It is unclear as well in which football association the club played its football in the 1st 3 seasons of its existence.
  • 1971 / Applying for membership of the Belgian Football Association (KBVB), SC Orsmaal obtains matricule 7554. The club is placed in Brabant’s Provincial League 4F.
  • 1977 / Winning the title in Provincial League 4F, SC Orsmaal accedes to Brabant’s Provincial League 3 for the 1st time.
  • 1979 / In the best season in club history, SC Orsmaal finishes in 8th place in Provincial League 3A.
  • 1980 / Finishing 2nd-last in P3A, SC Orsmaal drops back into P4 after 3 seasons.
  • 1992 / Having spent 12 consecutive seasons in P4, SC Orsmaal now clinches the title in Provincial League 4F, thus finding the way back up to P3.
  • 1995 / Just like its 1st spell in P3, SC Orsmaal descends into P4 after 3 seasons following a 15th place finish in P3A.
  • 2003 / Runners-up in Provincial League 4F, SC Orsmaal returns to P3 – possibly after winning a round of promotion play-offs.
  • 2005 / Finishing 2nd-last in P3A, 13 points away from no. 14 Patro Piétrain and safety, SC Orsmaal drops back into P4 along with bottom club K Rode Duivels Zoutleeuw.
  • 2023 / Having spent the previous 18 years in P4, SC Orsmaal has a fine 2022-23 campaign, ending the season in 3rd place in P4F behind K Rode Duivels Zoutleeuw and FC Budingen. Qualifying for the promotion play-offs, the club bows out in R1 against KFC Eppegem B (2-4). Due to various reasons (illness of the long-time chairman, dilapidate clubhouse, and rising energy costs), SC Orsmaal’s board decides to cease all activities, allowing the club to be absorbed in what is officially a merger with KSV Drieslinter (matr. 3233). Terrein Helen-Bosstraat is abandoned, as all activities move to Drieslinter’s Terrein Molenweg.
