BELGIUM: KFC Olympic Burst (1984-2022)

Gemeentelijk Voetbalveld Oudendijk, Burst (formerly KFC Olympic Burst)

Belgium, province: East Flanders

28 XII 2014 / KFCO Burst - FC Mere 2-1 / East Flanders, Provincial League 3D (= BE level 7)

Timeline
  • 1943 / Foundation of Football Club (FC) Olympic Burst; applying for membership of Belgium's Football Association, the club acquires matricule 3901.
  • 1968 / FC Olympic Burst suffers relegation to Provincial League 4. In the following decades, the club alternates spells in Provincial Leagues 3 and 4.
  • 1984 / Inauguration of the two pitches at Oudendijk. It is unknown (to me) where the club played up to that point (anyone able to provide more information regarding this matter is welcome to contact me!).
  • 1993 / Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the club obtains the royal epithet, thus becoming KFC Olympic Burst.
  • 2010 / Achieving the title in East Flanders' Provincial League 3D, KFC Olympic Burst accedes to Provincial League 2 for the first time in club history. Relegation follows after two seasons.
  • 2015 / Following another title and promotion, Burst finds itself back in Provincial League 2, maintaining itself at that level for the following seven years.
  • 2022 / After negotiations to join the new project Erpe-Mere United (a merger between KRC Bambrugge and FC Mere, concluded in 2021) foundered, the club's board decides to cease all activities and fold. Matricule 3901 is sold to K Olsa Brakel, enabling the national league club to enter its B squad in East Flanders' pyramid in Provincial League 2 instead of having to go through the motions of climbing up to this level from the bottom division.
