Riverside Stadium - YMCA Grounds, Drumahoe (formerly Institute Football Club)
Northern Ireland, county: Derry
August 2009 & June 2019 / no match visited
Note 1: Institute FC, founded in 1905, played at the YMCA Grounds (later renamed Riverside Stadium) between 1980 and 2017. The three low stands were constructed in the course of the 1990s, when the club was eventually admitted to the League of Ireland, Northern Ireland's pro pyramid. In 2011, the construction of the East Stand was completed, the ground's fourth (and by far largest) stand. On August 22nd, 2017, the River Faughan flooded, causing havoc in Drumahoe and more specifically the Riverside Stadium. It is as yet unclear whether the ground will be restored to permit football being played once more. Since 2017, the club have groundshared, first at Churchill United FC and subsequently at Derry City FC's Brandywell.
Note 2: below, a compilation of photographs of two different visits: pictures 1-8 = August 2009 (prior to construction of East Stand) / pictures 9-23 = June 2019 (after flooding).
