NETHERLANDS: EFC Prinses Wilhelmina 1885 (2003-2023)

Sportpark Tiemeister, Enschede (formerly Enschedese Football Club Prinses Wilhelmina 1885)

Netherlands, province: Overijssel

16 XI 2019 / EFC PW 1885 - vv Rigtersbleek (za) 0-2 / District East, Saturday League 4F (= NL level 9)

Note: one of the oldest football clubs in the Netherlands, EFC Prinses Wilhelmina 1885 are the result of a merger, concluded in 1888, between Enschedese Football Club (EFC) and Prinses Wilhelmina (PW), who both saw the daylight in 1885. In the course of the club's long history, 'PW' played their football at various grounds across Enschede. In 2003, they settled down at Sportpark Tiemeister, which originally was home to Twente's local branch of the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB). Though PW dubbed their ground Sportpark Tiemeister, the pitch actually is in the southwesternmost corner of Sportpark Diekman, which houses various sports clubs, including PW's neighbours Sportclub Enschede. One of the covered stands of SC Enschede's main pitch can be detected in several of the pictures below (most notably no. 7 & 11). In November 2023, EFC Prinses Wilhelmina 1885 moved to Sportpark Diekman Oost (W), the former ground of vv Zuid Eschmarke. Sportpark Tiemeister was taken over by the KNVB again, who make us of it as a referee training ground.
