Terrein Kloosterstraat, Sotteghem = Zottegem = Sottegem Erwetegem (KSV Sottegem, formerly KSV Sottegem - youth academy)
Belgium, province: East Flanders
1 II 2020 / KSV Sottegem - K Standaard SV Denderleeuw 2-2 / East Flanders, Provincial League 2B (= BE level 7)
Note: KSV Sottegem (the club name actually writes the name of the town in French rather than in Dutch, though Zottegem - or Sotteghem in English - really is in Flanders), founded in 1922, played at a ground called Bruggenhoek for the first 45 years of their existence. In 1967, the club moved to Kloosterstraat in Erwetegem, a hamlet on the outskirts of the town - which really only was a temporary solution, while the new municipal stadium, Stadion Jules Matthijs, was still under construction. In 1969, KSV Sottegem eventually moved to this stadium, leaving the premises at Kloosterstraat to be used by their youth academy. Nearly fifty years later, in October 2018, after the heating system in the clubhouse of Stadion Jules Matthijs had broken down, the club decided to move their first team football to the youth academy - though some isolated matches were played at the Matthijs stadium. In mid-2019, the decision was finally taken to abandon the stadium altogether in favour of the synthetic pitch in Erwetegem. Surprisingly, given that the rest of the ground at Kloosterstraat has undergone renovation, two bits of terracing dating back to the 1960s are still in place. A covered stand was added in December 2019.
