Timeline
  • 1936 / Foundation of a football club in Beverlo, which takes on the name Beverloo Sport, receiving registration number 2423 upon being accepted as Belgian FA member – and starting its life in Limburg’s Regional League 3 (3e Gewestelijke).
  • 1938 / After an existence of just two years, Beverloo Sport folds, ceasing all activities.
  • 1968 / Foundation of a football club in Beverlo by the name of VK (Vriendenkring) Beverlo, which joins Belgium’s Football Association with registration number 7236 – this VK Beverlo possibly being a successor or continuation of a recreational club with the same name. It is unclear if VK Beverlo started its life at Terrein Schansvijverstraat. Whatever the truth, VK Beverlo starts its life in Limburg’s Provincial League 3F.
  • 1974 / Finishing in fourteenth place in Limburg’s Provincial League 3A, VK Beverlo drops back into Provincial League 4.
  • 1977 / Runners-up in P4C, VK Beverlo manages a comeback in Provincial League 3 after an absence of three seasons.
  • 1984 / Finishing in fifteenth place in P3D, VK Beverlo drops back into P4.
  • 1993 / Runners-up in P4E, VK Beverlo wins promotion to Provincial League 3, possibly after a successful round of play-offs.
  • 2000 / Finishing in third place in P3A, VK Beverlo qualifies for the play-offs, in which the club wins a historic promotion to Limburg’s Provincial League 2.
  • 2001 / After just one season in P2B, in which the club finishes in second-last position, VK Beverlo drops back into Provincial League 3. Following the 2000-01 season, the club concludes a merger with K Red Star Korspel, a club from nearby Korspel founded in 1941 (registration number 3179 / royal epithet since 1991), which had never played at a higher level than Provincial League 2. The new merger club, which retains VK Beverlo’s registration number 7236 – and thereby losing Korspel’s royal epithet – takes on the name Red Star Beverlo, moving first team football to Terrein Schansvijverstraat in Beverlo and starting its life in Limburg’s Provincial League 3B.
  • 2006 / Finishing in third place in P3A, Red Star Beverlo qualifies for the play-offs, in which the club wins promotion to Limburg’s Provincial League 2.
  • 2007 / In the best season in the history of football in Beverlo, Red Star Beverlo finishes in eighth place in Limburg’s Provincial League 2B.
  • 2008 / Finishing in fourteenth place in P2A, Red Star Beverlo drops back into Provincial League 3 along with Turkse FC and bottom club Standard Elen.
  • 2011 / Finishing in fourteenth place in P3A, Red Star Beverlo drops back into Provincial League 4 along with SV Herkol, K Kaulille FC, VK Penarol Engsbergen, Excelsior Hamont, and bottom club Sparta Lille.
  • 2012 / Bottom of the table with just 1 point obtained in the entire season – a 2-2 draw against Sporting Ellikom – and several double digit defeats, Red Star Beverlo is on the brink of folding, until being taken over by a new board of Turkish emigrants, which changes the name of the club to Fenerbahçe Red Star Beverlo.
  • 2013 / After a disastrous year, which sees the club finishing in last place in Provincial League 4A – with not a single point being picked up in the second half of the season – Fenerbahçe Red Star Beverlo folds, ceasing all activities, following being expelled from the Belgian FA due to misconduct of club members. With no new football club seeing the daylight in Beverlo, the ground at Schansvijverstraat is taken over by American football club Limburg Shotguns.
