19 IV 2026 / AC Hombourg Reserves B - RFC Union La Calamine Reserves 2-0 / Liège, Reserves' League - Group F
Timeline
- 1969 / After one or two years of playing improvised matches against teams from surrounding villages on a pasture owned by Mr Rompen, a football club is founded in Montzen (Montsen), a hamlet in the far east of Belgium, near the tripoint with Netherlands and FR Germany. The club is officially given the name Montzen Jeunes Football Club, often abbreviated as Montzen JFC – and locally mostly referred to as FC Montzen-Jeunes. The club, which settles on Terrain du Playa, a newly laid-out pitch in Montzen-Gare, joins a recreational league, the Ligue Amateur Liégeoise de Football (later renamed ALFA, Association Liégeoise de Football Amateur), a sub-branch of the Royale Ligue Belge de Football Amateur (RLBFA).
- 1973 / After four years of playing at Terrain du Playa in Montzen-Gare, Montzen JFC moves to a newly laid-out ground at Rue Hubert Dénis in Montzen proper, the so-called Plaine Etienne Langohr – named after Montzen’s mayor at that time, who put together a budget to allow the club to move to the new location. Plaine Etienne Langohr originally consisted of two pitches, with one of those being given up in the course of the 1990s.
- 1983 / Foundation of a new recreational club in Montzen, FC Montzen-Gare, which joins the German-speaking EAFV, i.e. the Eupener Amateurfussballverband. The club plays its football on a pitch near the train station at Montzen-Gare.
- 2000 / After seventeen years of playing in Montzen-Gare, FC Montzen-Gare moves in with Montzen JFC, with the two clubs sharing the Plaine Etienne Langohr from then onwards.
- ± 2001 / With new dressing rooms being constructed at Plaine Etienne Langohr, Montzen JFC temporarily moves its matches to Terrain de la Rue du Cheval Blanc, the ground of AC Hombourg. Given the good relations which develop with that club in this period, Montzen JFC takes the decision to leave the ALFA league association after more than thirty years, allowing itself to be absorbed into AC Hombourg and becoming that club’s second reserves’ team. Although locally the name Montzen JFC or FC Montzen-Jeunes is still used, the club has been no more than one of the teams of AC Hombourg ever since, with matches continuing to be played at Plaine Etienne Langohr.
- 2010 / Montzen JFC (a.k.a. AC Hombourg Reserves B) wins its first title in the ranks of the Belgian Football Association following a 2-0 win away at FC La Reid Reserves.
- 2019 / The pitch of Plaine Etienne Langohr is widened to be in conformity with Belgian FA rules.
- 2025 / FC Montzen-Gare folds, ceasing all activities after an existence of 42 years.
