BELGIUM: AC Morlanwelz (1968-2013) / AS Morlanwelzienne (2013-)

Stade Communal de la Malaise, Morlanwelz (Association Sportive Morlanwelzienne, formerly Amical Club Morlanwelz)

Belgium, province: Hainaut = Henegouwen

5 IX 2021 / AS Morlanwelzienne - RUFC Ransartoise 1-0 / Hainaut, Provincial League 1 (= BE level 6)

Note: AC Morlanwelz, founded in 1968 (matricule 7194), was not the first football club in the town of Morlanwelz. Between 1929 and 1962, there was a club called Morlanwelz Sports (matricule 1470), which took on the name Racing Club de Jolimont in 1962 - and this club disappeared in 1972 - it is beyond my knowledge if Morlanwelz Sports or RC Jolimont made use of the Stade de la Malaise. In 1986, AC Morlanwelz absorbed their smaller neighbour club AS La Hestre, while, in 2013, a merger was concluded with RFC Carnièrois. This second time, a new club name was chosen, AS Morlanwelzienne. Since, first team football has been played at Morlanwelz, while the ground at Rue Saint-Eloi in Carnières remained in use for training purposes until 2022. During the 2017/2018 season, a 3G surface was put in place on pitch 2 of the stadium in Morlanwelz. From the summer of 2018 onwards, first team football has taken place on this side pitch, while pitch 1 was left to decay. According to club sources, Morlanwelz's town council plans a renovation of the old pitch, though when those works will commence is as yet unclear.
