BELGIUM: Standaard Sluise-aan-Jeker (1927-1962) / VC Sluizen (1962-2001, 2008-2018) / KSK Jecora (B) (2001-2008) / VC Jekervallei Sluizen (2018-2021) / VCJ Heur Sluizen (2021-)

Tweemolensstraat, Sluizen (VCJ Heur Sluizen, formerly Standaard Sluise-aan-Jeker / VC Sluizen / B ground of KSK Jecora / VC Jekervallei Sluizen)

Belgium, province: Limburg

11 IX 2021 / VCJ Heur Sluizen - SK Munsterbilzen 1-0 / Limburg, Provincial League 3A (= BE level 8)

Note: Standaard Sluise-aan-Jeker, founded in 1927, played their football on this pitch until 1962, when the club folded. A new club saw the daylight, VC Sluizen, which, however, took part in regional leagues not affiliated to Belgium's FA for over thirty years until joining the official Provincial League system in 1998. Three years on, in 2001, a merger was concluded with K Hoger-Op Mal, forming KSK Jecora, with first team football moving to Mal. After the demise of KSK Jecora in 2008, a new VC Sluizen was founded, which joined a regional Saturday league. In 2018, in a repeat of what happened twenty years before, the club chose to take the step of becoming a member of the Belgian FA under the new name of VC Jekervallei Sluizen - thereby hoping to attract youth players from other villages surrounding Sluizen as well ('Jekervallei' being the denomination of the valley around the Jeker/Geer river). In 2021, the new name of VCJ Heur Sluizen was adopted after FC Heur-Tongeren from nearby Tongeren (playing under the matricule of the former KV Heur VV from the village of Diets-Heur, not far from Sluizen) eliminated the 'Heur' element from their name to become SK Tongeren.
