BELGIUM: FC Dailly (1975-2015) / RUS Pesche (B) (2015-) / US Couvinoise (B) (2023, 2024-2025) / US Couvinoise (2024)

Rue de la Prairie, Dailly (B ground of US Pesche, formerly Football Club Dailly & training ground of US Couvinoise)

Belgium, province: Namur = Namen

November 2021 / no match visited

Timeline
  • 1975 / Foundation of a football club in the village of Dailly, situated halfway between Chimay and Couvin in the southwest of the Province of Namur. The new club takes on the straightforward name FC Dailly, being accepted into the Belgian Football Association (URBSFA / KBVB) with registration number 8292. Most probably, the new club played its football at Rue de la Prairie from the outset. No documentation is available regarding the performances of FC Dailly in the first twenty odd years of its existence.
  • 2000 / Finishing in sixth place in Namur’s Provincial League 4B, FC Dailly wins promotion to Provincial League 3 via the play-offs. The club held out at that level for a minimum of three seasons – possibly even longer. However, it is clear that FC Dailly must have relegated back into Provincial League 4 in 2009 at its latest.
  • 2015 / Finishing in eleventh place in Namur’s Provincial League 4E in its last season, FC Dailly folds after an existence of forty years; registration number 8292 is erased from the membership list of the Belgian FA. Subsequently, the pitch at Rue de la Prairie is taken over by US Pesche (RUS Pesche since 2023) for training purposes.
  • 2023 / Foundation of a new club in Couvin, Union Sportive (US) Couvinoise, which joins the Belgian FA under registration number 9808. Refraining from fielding a first team, US Couvinoise competes with just a reserves’ team and several youth squads; in the 2023-24 season, the new club makes use of two grounds, the Parc des Sports / Rue de la Foulerie in Couvin (thus groundsharing with RES Couvin-Mariembourg’s youth academy) and the Terrain de la Rue de la Prairie in Dailly, with the only senior team playing its home matches in the former in the first half of the season and moving to Dailly after the winter break.
  • 2024 / US Couvinoise fields a first team in Namur’s Provincial League 4 for the 2024-25 season, with local authorities allowing this club to use the Stade du Roi Soleil in Mariembourg for home matches; training sessions are held at Rue de la Prairie in Dailly or, when weather conditions prove harsh, on the synthetic pitch at Rue de la Foulerie in Couvin.
  • 2025 / US Couvinoise, which had withdrawn its first team from Namur’s Provincial League 4 in the course of the 2024-25 season, folds after an existence of only two years.
Note - Due to an issue with the floodlights at the time of my visit in November 2021, the pitch in Dailly was temporarily out of use.
