Sportpark De Madroel, Pernis (formerly PVV Excelsior Pernis & vv Pernis)
Netherlands, province: South Holland14 V 2011 / PVV Excelsior Pernis - VVOR 0-1 / Saturday League 2D (= NL level 6)
Note 1: Pernisse Voetbalvereniging 'Excelsior Pernis', saw the daylight in 1929 as a merger between two Protestant Christian clubs from Pernis, Volharding (itself founded in 1925) & De Zwervers (1926). Colloquially known as "Excelsior P.", the club were nationwide champions in Saturday League in the fateful war year 1944. PVV Excelsior Pernis settled down at Sportpark De Madroel in May 1954 - although it must be added that the club and its predecessors played their football at a ground very close to De Madroel in part of their early (pre-war) history. After many years in anonymity, the club had a good spell in the 1990s, with four seasons of Saturday League 1 football. In 2011, a merger was concluded between PVV Excelsior Pernis and their village rivals PVV DOTO, forming vv Pernis. After the merger, all club activities took place at Sportpark De Madroel for one year and a half before the move was made to DOTO's Sportpark De Loswal, renamed Sportpark Pernis, in January 2013. Since, Sportpark De Madroel has been left derelict.
