NETHERLANDS: DOTO '33 (1933-1950) / PVV DOTO (1950-2011) / vv Pernis (2013-)

Sportpark Pernis "De Loswal", Pernis (vv Pernis, formerly PVV DOTO = Pernisse Voetbalvereniging 'Door Ontwikkeling tot Ontspanning')

Netherlands, province: South Holland

16 III 2010 / PVV DOTO - RVVH 2-0 / Zaterdag Hoofdklasse A (= NL level 3)
9 IV 2022 / vv Pernis - PPSC 0-1 (match abandoned after 32 minutes) / District West II, Saturday League 4G (= NL level 9)

Note 1: DOTO '33 probably played their football at Sportpark De Loswal in Pernis from the club's foundation in 1933 onwards. Initially members of the Christian League CNVB, the club joined the official Netherlands' Football Association (NVB) in 1940. In 1950, a name change was made, as DOTO '33 became PVV DOTO (previously, the club had to add the year 1933 to their name to avoid confusion with a club from Deventer bearing the same name, but this older DOTO disbanded in 1949). PVV DOTO had its heyday in the 1995-2010 era, which included five seasons at the highest non-league level - Hoofdklasse, the third tier of the Dutch football pyramid at that time. The current look of the ground dates back to that period, with the main stand, the so-called Joost Andeweg-tribune, being constructed in 1999. Strikingly, in March 2008, the ground hosted an international friendly between Armenia and Kazakhstan. In 2011, after two successive relegations and following severe financial problems, DOTO were absorbed by their more modest village rivals PVV Excelsior Pernis, resulting in the foundation of vv Pernis. After the merger, all activites took place at Excelsior's Sportpark De Madroel for one year and a half before the move was made to De Loswal, renamed Sportpark Pernis, in January 2013. Since, Sportpark De Madroel, situated at the other side of the village, has been left derelict.

Note 2: The second match I visited at Sportpark De Loswal (Sportpark Pernis), the encounter between vv Pernis and PPSC, was abandoned after just over half an hour due to a severe injury of one of the visiting team's players. Having broken his leg, he was taxied off the pitch in an ambulance (cp. picture 14 below) - and given the choice by the referee, his team mates preferred not to restart the match.

Note 3: Below, a compilation of photos of four different visits: pictures 1-3 = non-matchday visit, May 2011 / pictures 4 & 6-14 = match visit, April 2022 / picture 5 = non-matchday visit, March 2022 / pictures 15-19 = match visit, March 2010.
