Note 1: FC Sparta Rodange, founded in 1931, changed its name to become FC Racing Rodange one year later. During the years of German occupation, when all of Luxembourg's football clubs were forced to take on a germanicised name, the club was known as Fussballverein (FV) 31 Rodingen. Changing back to its original name in 1944, FC Racing Rodange had its heyday in the first decade after the liberation, playing a total of eight seasons in Luxembourg's top division between 1946 and 1956, following which the club dwindled into anonymity in the following years. Eventually, in 1991, Racing concluded a merger with town rivals FC Chiers Rodange, resulting in the foundation of FC Rodange 91. First team football moved to Chiers' Stade Jos Philippart, while Racing's Terrain Dhoïl - or 'Um Duel' in Luxembourgish -, situated on the southern fringes of Rodange, has remained in use for lower team football and training purposes ever since.
