13 IV 2025 / RKVV OKSV - Sportclub Loosbroek 2-0 / District South II, Sunday League 5G (= NL level 10)
Timeline
- 1937 / Foundation of a first football club in Overlangel, which takes on the name OVV (Overlangelse Voetbalvereniging) – probably officially RKVV (Rooms-Katholieke Voetbalvereniging) OVV, but no information is available concerning the matter. The club joins the Roman Catholic league association RKF (Rooms-Katholieke Federatie) – or, more specifically, its regional sub-branch RKVB (Rooms-Katholieke Voetbalbond Den Bosch), being placed in RKVB Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 3 for the 1937-38 season. The club plays its football on a pitch laid out at Molenveld.
- 1940 / The RKF as well as all other football associations in the Netherlands apart from the official Netherlands’ Football Association (KNVB, renamed NVB following the German oppression of the Netherlands) are abolished. Most probably, unlike many other clubs playing in Afdeling Maasbuurt, OVV did not make the leap to NVB membership – becoming inactive in the early stages of the German occupation of the Netherlands.
- 1949 / Refoundation of a football club in Overlangel, with the new club being given the name Rooms-Katholieke Voetbalvereniging (RKVV) ‘Overlangels-Keentse Sportvereniging (OKSV). The first chairman of the club is J. School. Joining the KNVB, the new club is placed in Afdeling Den Bosch (Sunday) Division 3 – universally called ‘Afdeling Maasbuurt’ (Division 3), as the bulk of the clubs in this newly created division played their football in RKVB Afdeling Maasbuurt prior to World War II. A new pitch is laid out for the club at the back of Café Frans van Munster at Kerkstraat, opposite the local cemetery. In fact, the pitch was used as a horse pasture during midweeks – with all the inconveniences flowing from it during matchdays.
- 1953 / Clinching the title in Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 3 following a 4-3 win in a tie-break match against Velp (exact club name unknown) on the pitch of RKSV Mobilia in Grave, RKVV OKSV qualifies for the championship play-offs, in which the club suffers a 2-0 (aggr.) defeat at the hands of vv Macharen. As such, RKVV OKSV misses out on promotion to Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 2.
- 1954 / Clinching the title in Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 3, RKVV OKSV qualifies for the championship play-offs, in which the club manages a 10-4 (aggr.) win against RKVV Maliskamp. As such, RKVV OKSV achieves promotion to Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 2. The successful coach is H. van Hees.
- 1962 / Being evicted from its pitch at the back of Café Frans van Munster, RKVV OKSV moves to a newly laid-out pitch just across the road, at the back of the local church. The pitch, referred to colloquially as (Sportcomplex) ‘t Veldje, is laid out on a pasture, half of which is owned by the local church, and the other half being purchased by Ravestein’s municipal authorities for the benefit of the club.
- 1964 / With 2-1 defeat against RKSV Juliana Reserves being the last nail in the coffin, RKVV OKSV drops back from Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 2 into Division 3 – incidentally the first relegation in club history.
- 1968 / Coached by T. van Geenen, RKVV OKSV storms to the title in Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 3, with top scorer F. School finding the net 40 times in the course of the season (with 12 goals in a 22-0 win over SV Ruwaard). In the ensuing championship play-offs, the club manages a 2-1 away win at SCV ’58, only to suffer defeat in the home leg (3-5). Following the rules of the day, in which goal difference does not bring the decision, a tie-break match is organised, played at RKSV Achilles Reek’s ground – with SCV ’58 walking away as 2-1 winners (A.E.T.). As such, OKSV misses out on a return to Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 2.
- 1969 / Clinching the title in Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 3, RKVV OKSV suffers two defeat at the hands of vv Berghem Sport in the championship play-offs (13-8 aggr.), thus missing out on promotion to Division 2.
- 1970 / Clinching the title in Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 3, RKVV OKSV goes on to defeat vv Ravenstein Reserves twice in the championship play-offs (6-0 aggr.), thus managing a return to Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 2 after six seasons. The successful coach is M. van Erp.
- 1971 / Finishing in second-last place in Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 2, RKVV OKSV drops back into Division 3 along with bottom club vv Heijen.
- 1972 / Following a decisive 8-0 away win at RKVV DESO, RKVV OKSV clinches the title in Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 3. With the championship play-offs having been abolished, the club accedes to Division 2 automatically.
- 1976 / With its membership ever growing, RKVV OKSV acquires a second pitch on the northwestern fringe of the village, at Overlangelseweg. Solely used for training purposes, this pitch has the benefit of dressing rooms built in situ.
- 1978 / New dressing rooms are inaugurated at Sportcomplex ‘t Veldje.
- 1981 / RKVV OKSV suffers relegation from Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 2, thus descending into Division 3.
- 1988 / Runners-up in Afdeling Maasbuurt Division 3, 1 point behind unbeaten champions RKVV HBV, RKVV OKSV wins promotion to Division 2. That same year, the roof of the dressing rooms at Sportcomplex ‘t Veldje is replaced.
- 1991 / With the club hitherto not having disposed of a proper canteen at Sportcomplex ‘t Veldje, having had to make do with a small coffee bar, RKVV OKSV now inaugurates its newly built clubhouse.
- 1996 / Upon the abolition of Afdeling Noord-Brabant and all other KNVB sub-branches, RKVV OKSV is placed in the newly created Sunday League 6H of District South I.
- 2006 / Finishing in seventh place in District South II’s Sunday League 6G, RKVV OKSV goes on to win the promotion play-offs, thus acceding to Sunday League 5 for the first time. The successful coach is Wil Beerden.
- 2007 / Finishing bottom of the table in District South II’s Sunday League 5H with coach Wil Beerden, RKVV OKSV drops back into Sunday League 6 after just one season.
- 2009 / Finishing in fourth place in District South II’s Sunday League 6G, 10, RKVV OKSV qualifies for the play-offs, in which the club is knocked out in R1 by RKVV SBV.
- 2010 / Finishing in third place in District South II’s Sunday League 6F, RKVV OKSV is drawn in a promotion play-off group with SV OVC ’63 and SCMH, suffering a home defeat against the former (0-3) and managing no more than an away draw against the latter (1-1). As such, OVC and SCMH win promotion, with OKSV ending the season empty-handedly.
- 2013 / Finishing in fourth place in District South II’s Sunday League 6E with coach Niels Voet, RKVV OKSV wins promotion to Sunday League 5 automatically due to extra promotion places being available.
- 2014 / Finishing in second-last place in District South II’s Sunday League 5H with coach Niels Voet, RKVV OKSV drops back into Sunday League 6 along with bottom club vv SIOL.
- 2015 / Runners-up in District South II’s Sunday League 6D, 5 points behind champions vv SIOL, RKVV OKSV is placed in Sunday League 5 automatically due to the abolition of Sunday League 6 in District South II.
- 2017 / Finishing in third place in District South II’s Sunday League 5H, RKVV OKSV is drawn in a promotion play-off group with RKVV Milheezer Boys and RKSV Achilles Reek, managing an away draw against the former (1-1) and winning its home encounter with the latter (3-2). Due to Achilles Reek defeating Milheezer Boys in the third encounter in the group, OKSV wins first place and thus accedes to Sunday League 4 for the first time in club history. The successful coach is former SV TOP player Peter van Orsouw.

Note – Much of the information in the above has been derived from two sources kindly put at my disposal by RKVV OKSV’s board: first, there was a booklet published on the occasion of the club’s fortieth anniversary in 1989: “OKSV 40 jaar”, by André van der Loop / Tinie Manders / Toon Jaspers; as well as a more modest release on the club’s fiftieth anniversary in 1999: “Jubileumkrant RK Voetbalvereniging OKSV 1949-1999” (no authors mentioned).
