BELGIUM: KSK Maldegem (1995-2022) / KSVK Maldegem (2022-)

Maurice De Waelestadion, Maldegem (KSVK Maldegem, formerly KSK Maldegem)

Belgium, province: East Flanders

14 IV 2012 / KSK Maldegem - VC Wingene 4-1 / Vierde Klasse A (= BE level 4)

Note: Melde FC, founded in 1920, played its football at Molensteeg, but changed its name to become Melda Maldegem in 1924; when the matricule system was introduced by the Belgian Football Association in 1926, Melda received matricule 31. In 1931, however, Melda chose to leave the official FA and join another league, Vlaamsche Voetbalbond. After World War II, in 1944, the club asked to be admitted as RBFA members once more, joining under a slightly amended name, Melda's Sportkring Maldegem - and under a new matricule, 4220. The club changed its name to become SK Maldegem in 1960 and acquired the royal epithet in 1996. In 1995, SK Maldegem moved into its new, purpose-built Maurice De Waelestadion, named after a successful cyclist from Maldegem. KSK Maldegem played national league football for twelve seasons (1998-2008, 2011-13) before tumbling back into East Flanders' provincial leagues. In 2022, a merger was concluded with KVK Adegem, becoming KSVK Maldegem - KSVK being a consciously chosen mix of KVK and KSK. Since, the club's first team has been home at Maldegem's Maurice De Waelestadion, while Adegem's ground at Waleweg has remained in use for lower team football and training purposes.
