LUXEMBOURG: US Mondorf-les-Bains

Stade John Grün, Mondorf-les-Bains = Bad Mondorf (US Mondorf-les-Bains)

Luxembourg, canton: Remich

17 IX 2011 / US Mondorf-les-Bains - FC Koeppchen Wormeldange 1-1 / Promotion d'Honneur (= LUX level 2)

Note 1: Union Sportive Mondorf-les-Bains, usually referred to just as US Mondorf, saw the daylight in 1915. During the years of German occupation (1940-44), US Mondorf was forced to germanify its name, becoming Spielvereinigung (SpVgg) Mondorf, but the name change was undone after the war. The club's stadium was named after John Grün (1868-1912), born in Mondorf-les-Bains and known during his lifetime as the world's strongest man. As yet, I haven't been able to find out in which year the club moved into the Stade John Grün.

Note 2: Below, a compilation of photos of two different visits: pictures 1-2 & 6-18 = match visit, September 2011 / pictures 3-5 = non-matchday visit, March 2011.
