BELGIUM: Doc Cornesse (±1968-± 2004)

Terrain du Fond de Ville, Cornesse (formerly Le Doc Cornesse)

Belgium, province: Liège = Luik

May 2025 / no match visited

Timeline
  • ± 1968 / A recreational club sees the daylight in Cornesse, founded by a group of doctors, with the new club being given the appropriate name Doc Cornesse. The founding father of the club is doctor Gaston Krezmien. The club, which settles on a pitch at Rue Fond de Ville, joins the recreational league ALFA (Association Liégeoise de Football Amateur, called Ligue Amateur in the old days). Later on, the Terrain du Fond de Ville is also used for youth academy training sessions and football matches by regular provincial clubs from surrounding villages, notably R Cornesse FC, a practice which must have lasted well into the 1980s.
  • ± 2004 / Doc Cornesse folds, ceasing all activities. The club’s pitch at Rue Fond de Ville is abandoned. The clubhouse is made use of as a living house for some more time in subsequent years before being left to its own devices completely.
Note - Anyone able to provide more information about this club and pitch is very welcome to get in touch with me.
