11 V 2025 / FC Awirs - Alliance Fexhe-et-Slins Fragnée (ALFA) 2-0 / ALFA Division D'Honneur
Timeline
- 1968 / Foundation of a recreational football club in Awirs, which takes on the name FC Awirs. The club settles on a newly laid-out pitch, Terrain au Pied du Château, at Rue des Awirs in Bas-Awirs. The club joins the recreational football federation ALFA (Association Liégeoise du Football Amateur, called Ligue Amateur in the old days).
- 1972 / A second recreational club is founded in Awirs, Cercle Sportif (CS) Awirs, which settles at a ground laid out on a hillside at Rue Edmond Plumier. Like its town rivals, CS Awirs joins the ALFA league.
- ± 1975 / As FC Awirs is evicted from Terrain au Pied du Château, the club settles on a groundshare with another recreational club, Sporting Duval (members of another recreational league, RIL), at the latter’s ground, Terrain du Fort de Flémalle in Souxhon.
- 1978 / Moving away from Terrain du Fort de Flémalle after some three years, FC Awirs settles on a pitch in Awirs proper, Terrain du Sart d’Avette, which has been laid out on top of a closed-down junkyard. A firm from Bruges is invited by Awirs’ municipal authorities to level the area and lay out a pitch.
- 2017 / CS Awirs folds, ceasing all activities.
- 2021 / At the initiative of a local football enthusiast, Mike Lauers, CS Awirs is re-established with the new name Sporting Club (SC) Awirs, with the hillside at Rue Edmond Plumier being re-inaugurated as the club’s home ground.
- 2023 / As SC Awirs ceases its activities after just two years, Mike Lauers takes over rival club FC Awirs as well as that club’s ground at Rue Sart d’Avette. The abandoned ground at Rue Edmond Plumier is taken over by a dog agility club.
