Timeline
  • 1975 / Foundation of a football club in Hermée, a village halfway between the city of Liège and the Dutch border near Maestricht. The new club, which is given the straightforward name FC Hermée, acquires registration number 8270 upon joining the Belgian Football Association (URBSFA / KBVB). The club, which played its football on the pitch at Rue de Herstal from the outset, started its life in Liège’s Provincial League 4, never rising to a level higher than Provincial League 2 in subsequent years. The first thirty odd years of club history have been badly documented, with little or no information being available in open sources.
  • 2013 / Finishing in fourth place in Liège’s Provincial League 2B, FC Hermée qualifies for the promotion play-offs. Edging past R Herve FC (1-1 & penalty shoot-out) and FC Herstal (0-0 & penalty shoot-out) in the first two rounds, the club manages to reach the three-way final play-off against RFC Hannutois and R Espoir Minérois, however suffering heavy defeats against the former (2-7) as well as the latter (5-0). With Minérois walking away with the promotion ticket, FC Hermée remains in Provincial League 2.
  • 2014 / One year after reaching the final of the promotion play-offs, FC Hermée now finishes bottom of the table in Liège’s Provincial League 2B, thus descending into Provincial League 3 along with the club in second-last place, FC Cheratte.
  • 2015 / Finishing in third place in Liège’s Provincial League 3B, FC Hermée qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club knocks out RUS Ferrières (1-1 & penalty shoot-out) and R Star Fléron FC (2-6) in the first two rounds, only to be pipped at the post by RRC Trois Ponts in the final (1-1 & penalty shoot-out). However, due to RCS Verviétois folding all the way up in National Division 3, an extra Provincial League 1 club from the Province of Liège earns promotion to the national divisions, as a result of which an extra promotion place falls free in the lower echelons as well. As a result, FC Hermée manages an immediate return to Provincial League 2 via the backdoor.
  • 2020 / In the 2019-20 season, cut short by the first COVID lockdown in March 2020, FC Hermée finds itself in second-last place in Liège’s Provincial League 2B. On that basis, the club is retrograded to Provincial League 3 along with bottom side FC United Richelle B.
  • 2025 / Champions in Liège’s Provincial League 3C, 4 points ahead of closest rivals JS Vivegnis, FC Hermée wins promotion to Provincial League 2. However, by the time the club clinches the title, chairman Albert Theunissen, a founding member of the club, had made it known that FC Hermée would disappear. The club had been notified by Oupeye’s municipal authorities that it would have to vacate the two pitches at Rue de Herstal by the summer of 2026, the reasoning behind it being that the clubhouse was deemed beyond renovation and that the number of sports facilities in the community had to be reduced to save spending. Alderman Nivard pressed the club to work on a merger project with one of the neighbour clubs, but FC Hermée’s board favoured ceasing all activities above concluding a merger with would entail the disappearance of football from Hermée anyway, given that the ground would have to be given up. With the club’s activity ending on a high with a P3 title, Mr Theunissen manages to sell the club’s registration number to a group of investors from Tilleur gathered around Richard Quentin, who rename the club FC Hermée Tilleur, with first team football moving to Tilleur’s Stade du Buraufosse and lower team football being practiced at the Site du Bonnet, also in Tilleur, with both grounds having to be shared with Jeunesse Montegnée Saint-Nicolas Tilleur.
