14 IX 2025 / RKSV Cito - RKSV WEC 1-6 / District South II, Regional Cup - group stage, group 2-05
Timeline
- 1946 / Awaiting the resumption of regular league football, various recreational clubs sprang up in Oss, a town in North Brabant, in the aftermath of the liberation of the Netherlands from the German yoke. Teams such as SDO, DEVO, and DES took part in a makeshift league organised by the short-lived Osse Voetbalfederatie. Players from several of these teams got together to form a Roman Catholic football club – and with the first suggested names of the new club all being turned down by the Netherlands’ football federation (KNVB), the founding fathers finally settle on a KNVB suggestion to take on the name ‘Cito’ (Latin for ‘swift’) – heralding the birth of Rooms-Katholieke Sportvereniging (RKSV) Cito. The first pitch of the new club is situated at the crossroads of modern-day Hagelkruisstraat and Iman van den Boschstraat.
- ± 1948 / Moving away from its initial location, RKSV Cito settles on a newly laid-out pitch at Landweerstraat.
- ± 1950 / Moving away from its pitch at Landweerstraat, RKSV Cito settles on a newly laid-out pitch at Hescheweg (at the crossroads with modern-day Bremlaan).
- 1958 / Moving away from Terrein Hescheweg, RKSV Cito settles at Sportpark De Rooijen, where the club is accorded the luxury of two full pitches as well as a training corner.
- 1961 / Following a 4-0 home win over RKSV HVCH Reserves, RKSV Cito clinches its first title, in Afdeling Noord-Brabant Sunday Division 2, under the leadership of coach Jo van Tilburg. The club is deprived of promotion to D1 of the said league system due to suffering defeat in a set of promotion matches against VOW.
- 1964 / Finishing in joint first place in Afdeling Noord-Brabant Sunday Division 2 with EVVC, RKSV Cito meets the club from Vinkel in a tie-break match, played at Terrein Zwarte Molenweg in Nistelrode, home of RKSV Prinses Irene. Going on to win the match comprehensively (4-1, two goals each by Gerrit van Bergen & Rinie van der Putten) in front of a crowd of some 2,000, RKSV Cito wins promotion to Afdeling Noord-Brabant Division 1 for the first time.
