Timeline
- 1964 / Foundation of a football club in Honnay, a village in the east of the Province of Namur, halfway between Beauraing and Wellin. The new club takes on the name FC Honnay, acquiring registration number 6718 upon being accepted into the Belgian Football Association (URBSFA / KBVB). Most probably, the club settled on the pitch at Rue du Château right at its foundation. In the 1964-65 season, FC Honnay was probably placed in the reserves’ divisions, as was customary for emerging clubs in those years, being placed in Provincial League 3 in the following season.
- 1972 / With no further data regarding the club’s performance in the first thirty odd years of its existence being available, it is clear that FC Honnay finished as runner-up in Namur’s Provincial League 3C in the 1971-72 season, finishing 4 points behind champions JS Anseremmoise.
- 1996 / In a first sign of life since the early 1970s, we now find FC Honnay in Provincial League 3, by then not the lowest, but the second-lowest level in Namur’s provincial divisions.
- 1999 or 2000 / Suffering relegation from Namur’s Provincial League 3, FC Honnay descends into Provincial League 4.
- 2000 / In spite of finishing in a modest seventh place in Namur’s Provincial League 4B, FC Honnay is placed in Provincial League 3 for the new season, due to Provincial League 4 being abolished.
- 2002 / Finishing bottom of the table in Namur’s Provincial League 3F with 4 points from 26 matches (1 win, 1 draw) and a hopeless goal difference of -151 (17-168), FC Honnay descends into the re-established Provincial League 4. However, following the 2001-02 season, the club withdraws from first team football.
- 2003 / Having remained inactive in the 2002-03 season, FC Honnay folds once and for all, with its registration number 6718 being struck from the Belgian FA’s membership list. The pitch and clubhouse at Rue du Château have remained in use for village festivals until the present day.
- 2015 / Beauraing’s municipal authorities allow model aircraft club Les Blancs Volants d’Honnay to start making use of the pitch and clubhouse at Rue du Château.
