5 IX 2026 / RRFC Gozée - RUFC Ransartoise B 7-3 / Hainaut, Provincial League 3D (= BE level 8)
Timeline
- 1922 / Foundation of a first football club in Gozée, a village some 10 km to the south of Charleroi, with the new club taking on the name Gozée FC and joining the Belgian Football Association (URBSFA / KBVB). It is unclear where the pitch of this club was situated.
- ± 1926 / Gozée FC folds, ceasing all activities, in 1926 at its latest, as the club is not given a registration number – with the system of registration numbers being introduced in December 1926. In its short existence, the club does not seem to have featured in Hainaut’s regional divisions.
- 1927 / Foundation of a new football club in Gozée, FC Gozée, which acquires registration number 962 upon being allowed into the Belgian FA. One local source thinks that FC Gozée already played on the pitch called Stade Auguste Mans nowadays, but no further evidence to buttress this suspicion is available.
- 1928 / FC Gozée folds after an existence of barely one year, with registration number 962 being struck from the Belgian FA’s membership list. The club may have prolonged its existence in another league association in the following two decades, but there is no proof of this.
- 1947 / Foundation of a new football club in Gozée, which takes on the name Racing Football Club (RFC) Gozéen, with the club obtaining registration number 4754 upon being allowed into the Belgian FA. The club settles on a pitch laid out on a plot of farmland in the hamlet Fontenelle owned by a local smallholder, Auguste Mans – with the ground, still in use today, later being renamed Stade Auguste Mans in his honour.
