Walvisstraat, Gouda (vv ONA)
Netherlands, province: South Holland
31 X 2010 / ONA - SVVSMC 3-0 / District West II, Sunday League 3B (= NL level 7)
Note: Voetbalvereniging "Ontspanning na Arbeid" (vv ONA), founded in 1919, played its football at Bosweg until the ground fell victim to urban expansion in 1929 - upon which the club obtained a new park at Walvisstraat. In 1938, a wooden stand was erected, which was ultimately replaced by its successor of the Elascon brand in 1980. In 1955, upon the foundation of the professional league pyramid in the Netherlands, vv ONA joined up, but were condemned to relegation into non-league in 1960 after five relatively unsuccessful seasons. As a non-league side, vv ONA have remained at Sportpark Walvisstraat ever since. In 1994, in a major renovation of the ground, the main pitch was moved several dozens of yards to the east - as a result of which the pitch now adjoins ONA's clubhouse, a building which until 1973 housed Roman-Catholic primary school Sint-Franciscus. Like so many clubs in South Holland, vv ONA ultimately took the decision to withdraw from Sunday League football and henceforth play their first team football in the Saturday League pyramid (2022).
