Note: Founded in 1894 as Turnverein Bentheim and exclusively dedicated to gymnastics, SV Bad Bentheim e.V. von 1894, as the club is called officially, nowadays offers members the opportunity to play a wide range of sports, ranging from football to petanque and even chess. From when onwards the football branch has been home at Sportplatz Grosse Maate, nobody at the club could tell me - but certainly a very long time. In 2020, a new covered stand was erected alongside pitch 4 of the park, which, in mid-2020, became SV Bad Bentheim's main pitch (cp. photos 11 & 19 in the series below). The old main pitch with its wooden-roofed stand has remained in use for lower team football and training purposes, though - as well as for the odd friendly match of the club's first team.
