Note: vv Heerenveen, founded in 1920, was split into a non-league club and a professional branch (henceforth called SC Heerenveen) only in 1978; and therefore vv Heerenveen - rather than SC Heerenveen - is the club entitled to the legacy of one of the Netherlands' best-ever football players, Abe Lenstra (1920-1985, cp. photo 5). The non-leaguers have played at Sportpark Skoatterwâld since 1994, which is also SC Heerenveen's training ground and venue for lower team matches.
