Timeline
- 1930 / Foundation of Dinant Football Club (FC). Upon joining Belgium's Football Association, Dinant FC obtains matricule 1657. The club plays its football at Stade de la Citadelle from the outset.
- 1955 / Dinant Football Club obtains the royal epithet, thus becoming Royal Dinant Football Club or, abbreviatedly, R Dinant FC (occasionally referred to as RFC Dinant).
- 1962 / For a first time, R Dinant FC accedes to the National Leagues. After a spell in National Division 4 of two seasons, the club is condemned to a step back down the league ladder to Namur's Provincial League 1 in 1964.
- ±1965 / From some point onwards, probably in the 1960s, R Dinant FC have had the luxury of a training ground in Gemechenne, initially simply referred to as Stade Gemechenne - and later renamed Stade Alain Laloux.
- 1967 / R Dinant FC again finds its way to National Division 4.
- 1973 / Winning a play-off match against RCS Stavelotain, R Dinant FC gains promotion to National Division 3 for the first time in its history. The stay at that level does not last longer than one single season.
- 1983 / After an uninterrupted spell of national league football of 16 seasons, R Dinant FC is relegated to Namur's Provincial League 1. In subsequent years, the club never regained its former glory, even descending to the lowest provincial level, Provincial League 4.
- 2002 / After a spell of two years in Provincial League 1, R Dinant FC again sinks into the anonymity of the lower provincial levels. The club has alternated spells in Provincial League 2 and 3 since.
- 2005 / AL Lisogne-Thynes, a village club from the municipality of Dinant, wins promotion to Provincial League 1 for the first time. As that club's A ground at Chemin des Sarts in Loyers nor its B ground at Rue Barbion in Thynes is deemed suitable to host P1 football, an agreement is concluded between R Dinant FC and AL Lisogne-Thynes to groundshare at Stade de la Citadelle. The arrangements lasts for two seasons, until AL Lisogne-Thynes' relegation to P2 in 2007.
- 2019 / Another smaller club from the Dinant municipality, RSC Neffe, accedes to Provincial League 1 for the first time. Much to the chagrin of R Dinant FC's board, Dinant's town council forces the club to accept RSC Neffe's first team as groundsharers at Stade de la Citadelle due to Neffe's Stade André Quinet being deemed unfit for Provincial League 1 football.
- 2020 / RSC Neffe concludes a merger with AL Lisogne-Thynes, resulting in the foundation of RUS (Royale Union Sportive) Dinantaise, retaining Neffe's matricule 5156. In spite of RUS Dinantaise having three other grounds at its disposal - Rue Barbion in Thynes, Chemin des Sarts in Loyers, and Stade André Quinet in Neffe -, RUS Dinantaise's first team, starting life as a Provincial League 1 side, takes over Neffe's groundsharing agreement with R Dinant FC at Stade de la Citadelle.
- 2022 / Due to a disagreement between R Dinant FC and RUS Dinantaise, the former no longer allows its groundsharer to use Stade de la Citadelle. After a brief spell of first team football at Chemin des Sarts in Loyers in the early stages of league football in 2022-23, RUS Dinantaise's "fanion" settled at Stade André Quinet in Neffe in October 2022.
- 2023 / At the behest of Dinant's municipal authorities, RUS Dinantaise's A squad is allowed to return to Stade de la Citadelle.
- 2024 / Finishing in fourteenth place in Namur's Provincial League 1, RUS Dinantaise drops back into P2 along with RS Fernelmont-Hemptinne, US Beauraing, and bottom club US Flavion-Morialmé. Meanwhile, down in P3B, R Dinant FC finishes in second place, 5 points behind champions RCS Condruzien B, qualifying for the promotion play-offs, in which the club is eliminated in R1 by RUW Ciney B (1-5).
