BELGIUM: KVK Westmalle

Terrein Schepersdijk "Eddy De Peuterstadion", Westmalle (KVK Westmalle)

Belgium, province: Antwerp = Antwerpen

9 VIII 2025 / KVK Westmalle - K Wuustwezel FC B 3-1 / Antwerp, Provincial Cup for P3-P4 clubs - Group 4

Timeline
  • 1925 / Foundation of a football club in Westmalle, a village in the Province of Antwerp, with the new club being given the name FC Patria Westmalle. It is unclear if, yet improbable that, the club started its existence at Terrein Schepersdijk.
  • 1926 / As the Belgian FA introduces its system of registration numbers, FC Patria Westmalle acquires number 577.
  • 1928 / FC Patria Westmalle starts its life as a competitive club in Antwerp’s Regional League 3C (3e Gewestelijke C).
  • 1931 / Runners-up in Antwerp’s Regional League 3B, FC Patria Westmalle wins promotion to Regional League 2.
  • 1932 / Finishing in fourteenth place in Antwerp’s Regional League 2A, FC Patria Westmalle drops back into Regional League 3 after just one season.
  • 1934 / Runners-up in Antwerp’s Regional League 3C, FC Patria Westmalle manages a return to Regional League 2.
  • 1936 / Finishing in fourteenth place in Antwerp’s Regional League 2A, FC Patria Westmalle drops back into Regional League 3 after two years.
  • 1939 / Champions in Antwerp’s Regional League 3B, FC Patria Westmalle wins promotion to Regional League 2 – due to stay at that level, renamed Provincial League 2 in 1952, for nearly two decades to come.
  • 1941 / Foundation of a new football club in Westmalle, which takes on the name FC De Blauwvoet Westmalle, acquiring registration number 3096 upon being accepted as a new member club of the Belgian FA. It is unclear if the club, which originated from the recreational club SC Olympia Malle, played its football at the back of a café at Kruisbaan from the outset. For the 1941-42 season, FC De Blauwvoet Westmalle is placed in Antwerp’s Regional League 2, where it meets FC Patria Westmalle, starting three decades of rivalry between Patria from the east of the village, and Blauwvoet from the west.
  • 1942 / In spite of clinching the title in Antwerp’s Regional League 2A, FC De Blauwvoet Westmalle does not win promotion – probably due to no promotion system being in force in the third year of the German occupation of Belgium.
  • 1952 / Finishing bottom of the table in Antwerp’s Regional League 2A, FC De Blauwvoet Westmalle descends into the newly created Provincial League 3.
  • 1953 / Champions in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3E, FC De Blauwvoet Westmalle wins promotion to Provincial League 2. That same year, FC Patria acquires the royal epithet, thus adapting its club name officially to become Koninklijke Football Club (KFC) Patria Westmalle.
  • 1956 / Finishing bottom of the table in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2A, FC De Blauwvoet Westmalle drops back into Provincial League 3 – due to spend the remainder of its existence as an independent club at that level.
  • 1957 / Champions in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2C, KFC Patria Westmalle wins promotion to Provincial League 1 for the first and only time in its existence.
  • 1961 / In the best season in club history, KFC Patria Westmalle finishes in seventh place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 1.
  • 1962 / Finishing in third-last place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 1, KFC Patria Westmalle drops back into Provincial League 2 after five years.
  • 1968 / Finishing bottom of the table in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2B, KFC Patria Westmalle descends into Provincial League 3, stumbling upon village rivals Blauwvoet at that level.
  • 1971 / In their last seasons as independent clubs, KFC Patria Westmalle and FC De Blauwvoet Westmalle finish in fourth and eighth places respectively in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3E. Following the season, the two clubs conclude a merger, resulting in the foundation of Koninklijke Voetbalklub (KVK or KV) Westmalle, retaining Patria’s registration number 577; Blauwvoet’s number 3096 is erased from the Belgian FA’s official lists. The new club starts its existence in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3, with all activities being moved to Patria’s Terrein Schepersdijk. Terrein Kruisbaan is abandoned, but the former home of Blauwvoet would remain in use by recreational football clubs for decades to come.
  • 1975 / Finishing in third-last place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3C, KVK Westmalle drops back into Provincial League 4, created three years previously as the new bottom division of Antwerp’s provincial divisions.
  • 1976 / Runners-up in Antwerp’s Provincial League 4E, KVK Westmalle manages an immediate return to Provincial League 3.
  • 1977 / Finishing in thirteenth place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3C, KVK Westmalle is retrograded into Provincial League 4.
  • 1978 / Finishing in third place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 4E, KVK Westmalle goes on to win the promotion play-offs, thus acceding to Provincial League 3.
  • 1981 / Finishing bottom of the table in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3A, KVK Westmalle drops back into Provincial League 4.
  • ± 1984 / A new main pitch is laid out at Schepersdijk, situated to the west of the old main pitch. Alongside the new pitch, a small covered stand is erected, the costs of which are paid for with the money earned thanks to the sale of youth academy striker Francis ‘Cisse’ Severeyns to R Antwerp FC in 1982. As it happens, Severeyns would go on to make his full professional debut for Antwerp in 1984 at the age of sixteen.
  • 1987 / Champions in Antwerp’s Provincial League 4B, KVK Westmalle manages a return to Provincial League 3 after six seasons.
  • 1988 / Still playing for R Antwerp FC, former youth academy player Cisse Severeyns crowns himself top scorer of the Belgian league. That same year, he also makes his debut for Belgium’s national team, in which he would never become a mainstay. Between 1988 and 1993, Severeyns gathered 7 caps, in which he scored one goal.
  • 1989 / Champions in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3A, KVK Westmalle wins promotion to Provincial League 2 for the first time since the merger in 1971.
  • 1990 / In the best season in club history since the merger in 1971, KVK Westmalle finishes in fourth place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2A.
  • 1991 / Finishing in thirteenth place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 2B, KVK Westmalle drops back into Provincial League 3 after two seasons.
  • 1993 / Having returned to R Antwerp FC following spells at Pisa SC and KV Mechelen, Cisse Severeyns helped his team reach the final of the Cup Winners Cup, played at Wembley in London, in which Antwerp lost out to Parma AC (3-1). In the remainder of his colourful professional league career, Severeyns would go on to defend the colours of FC Tirol Innsbruck, KFC Germinal Ekeren, Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen, and KVC Westerlo
  • 1994 / Finishing in third-last place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3A, KVK Westmalle drops back into Provincial League 4.
  • 1995 / Finishing in third place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 4D, KVK Westmalle goes on to win the promotion play-offs, thus managing an immediate return to Provincial League 3.
  • 2000 / Finishing in third-last place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 3C, KVK Westmalle drops back into Provincial League 4 after five years.
  • 2002 / Terminating his professional league career at KVC Westerlo, Cisse Severeyns joins National Division 3 side R Cappellen FC. The striker would go on to play many more years in the lower reaches of Belgian football with subsequent spells at KFC Sint-Lenaarts, Gooreind VV, and KFC De Kempen Tielen-Lichtaart.
  • 2005 / Runners-up in Antwerp’s Provincial League 4C, 2 points behind champions KFC Grobbendonk, KVK Westmalle goes on to win the promotion play-offs, thus acceding to Provincial League 3.
  • 2006 / Finishing in third-last place in Antwerp's Provincial League 3A, KVK Westmalle drops back into Provincial League 4 along with KFC Sint-Martinus Halle and bottom club Excelsior FC Essen.
  • 2012 / At the age of 44, Cisse Severeyns joins his childhood club KVK Westmalle from KFC De Kempen Tielen-Lichtaart.
  • 2015 / After three seasons at KVK Westmalle, Cisse Severeyns hangs up his boots at the age of 47. Around that same time, Terrein Schepersdijk is officially renamed Eddy De Peuterstadion in honour of the club’s ultimate volunteer and utility man. Originally a member of KFC Patria Westmalle, Eddy De Peuter served KVK Westmalle as a groundsman, youth academy coach, referee, and secretary for decades.
  • 2016 / Runners-up in Antwerp’s Provincial League 4D, 3 points behind champions KSK Sefa Herentals, KVK Westmalle qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club bows out in R1 following defeat at the hands of K Brecht SK (2-1 aggr.).

  • 2018 / Finishing in fourth place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 4A, KVK Westmalle qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club knocks out SC Mechelen in R1 (3-1 aggr), only to suffer defeat in the final at the hands of KFC Turnhout B (3-3 aggr. & away goals).
  • 2023 / Finishing in fifth place in Antwerp’s Provincial League 4E, KVK Westmalle qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club suffers a humiliating defeat at the hands of KSK Oosthoven in R1 (0-10).
