Belgium, province: Namur = Namen
August 2025 / no match visited
Timeline
- 1907 / Foundation of a football club in Mettet, a rural village in the Province of Namur, with the new club taking on the name Wallonia Sporting Club (often abbreviated as WSC or Wallonia SC) Mettet.
- 1926 / As the Belgian Football Association introduces a system of registration numbers, Wallonia SC Mettet acquires number 297.
- 1935 / Obtaining the royal epithet, WSC Mettet officially adapts its name to become Royal Wallonia Sporting Club (RWSC or R Wallonia SC) Mettet.
- 1985 / Conquering the title in Namur's Provincial League 1, RWSC Mettet wins promotion to National Division 4 for the first and only time in the club's existence.
- 1986 / Finishing in second-last place in National Division 4C, RWSC Mettet drops back into the provincial divisions after just one season, along with SC Havré and bottom club FC Overijse.
- 2009 / Having tumbled down into the lowest reaches of Namur's provincial divisions, RWSC Mettet finishes in second-last place in Provincial League 4C in the last season of its existence as an independent club. Following the 2008-09 season, the club folds, ceasing all activities. Simultaneously, RUS Molignée Sport from nearby Ermeton-sur-Biert changes its name to become US Mettet-Molignée. Due to the fact that no official merger is concluded, RWSC Mettet's registration number 297 is erased from the Belgian FA's official lists. Henceforth, first team football is played at Rue Germensau in Ermeton-sur-Biert, with the pitch at Rue Saint-Job in Mettet being taken over by the newly renamed club for lower team football and training sessions. The name change may well have coincided with RUS Molignée Sport's training pitch at Rue des Marchets in Stave being abandoned.
- 2012 / US Mettet-Molignée is absorbed by Entente Sportive (ES) Biesmerée, resulting in the foundation of Entente Sportive (ES) de la Molignée, which takes on Biesmerée's registration number 3143; number 3267 of US Mettet-Molignée is erased from the Belgian FA's official lists. Henceforth, first team football is played at Rue du Fourneau in Biesmerée, while the pitch at Rue du Germensau in Ermeton-sur-Biert is retained for lower team football and training sessions. The merger may well have coincided with the pitch at Rue Saint-Job in Mettet being abandoned.
