Belgium, province: Namur = Namen
14 VIII 2025 / RFC Miécret - RFC Petit-Han B 3-3 / Pre-season friendly
Timeline
- 1942 / Foundation of a football club in Miécret, a small village in the east of the Province of Namur. The new club, simply entitled FC Miécret, joins the Belgian Football Association with registration number 3580. The club settles on a pitch laid out at Route du Moulin.
- 1965 / FC Miécret wins the title in Namur’s Provincial League 3, enjoying a streak of 27 consecutive matches without defeat. As such, the club accedes to Provincial League 2 – the highest level the club has reached until the present day. Apart from this, the performances of FC Miécret in the first sixty odd years of its existence have been poorly documented.
- 1969 / Moving away from its initial ground at Rue du Moulin, FC Miécret settles on its current pitch at Ruelle de Huy. In its original form, the modern-day clubhouse dates back to this year as well.
- 1992 / Upon the club’s fiftieth anniversary, FC Miécret assumes the royal epithet, thus officially becoming Royal Football Club (RFC) Miécret.
- 2009 / Finishing in third place in Namur’s Provincial League 4D, RFC Miécret goes on to win the promotion play-offs, thus acceding to Provincial League 3.
- 2010 / Finishing in third-last place in Namur’s Provincial League 3C, RFC Miécret drops back into Provincial League 4 after just one season, along with R Jeunesse Rochefortoise B and bottom club FC Achêne.
- 2017 / Finishing as runners-up in Namur’s Provincial League 4C, 10 points behind runaway champions RFC Yvoir, RFC Miécret qualifies for the promotion play-offs. However, drawn in a group with US Viroin-Treignes and RFC Spy B, RFC Miécret goes on to suffer defeat against the former (3-2) as well as the latter (0-3), thus finishing in third and last place and missing out on promotion. Also in 2017, FC Miécret’s secretary, René Gigot, lays down his function after a tenure of 65 (!) years. René Gigot would pass away four years later at the age of 90.
- 2019 / Obtaining the title in Namur’s Provincial League 4E, 6 points ahead of runners-up RCS Schaltin B, RFC Miécret wins promotion to Provincial League 3.
