Belgium, province: Hainaut = Henegouwen
23 VIII 2025 / R Jumet SC - RRFC Gozée 3-0 / Hainaut, Provincial League 3C (= BE level 8)
Timeline
- 1928 / Foundation of a football club in Jumet, a northern suburb of Charleroi. The new club, which takes on the name Jumet Sport’s Club (SC), acquires registration number 1189 upon being accepted as a new member of the Belgian Football Association (URBSFA / KBVB). Jumet SC’s first pitch is situated at Rue de Bayemont, with the club starting its existence in Hainaut’s Regional League 4.
- 1929 / Champions in Hainaut’s Regional League 4C, 3 points ahead of runners-up RC Marchienne-Docherie, Jumet SC wins promotion to Regional League 2.
- 1933 / Finishing in third place in Hainaut’s Regional League 3F, Jumet SC joins champions Roux Sports and runners-up US Lambusart in Regional League 2 for the new season.
- 1936 / Jumet SC finishes as runners-up in Hainaut’s Regional League 2C, 7 points behind champions Nerviennes Sports Farciennes.
- 1937 / Jumet SC finishes as runners-up in Hainaut’s Regional League 2C, 7 points behind champions Châtelet SC.
- 1938 / Runaway champions in Hainaut’s Regional League 2C, 13 points ahead of closest followers Daring Club Charleroi, Jumet SC wins promotion to Provincial League 2. Until 1952, Provincial League 2 was the highest tier of the provincial league pyramids – i.e. the level directly below the national divisions.
- 1939 / Finishing in second-last place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2, Jumet SC drops back into Regional League 2 along with bottom club FC Athois. However, unable to mount a team for the 1939-40 season, as many players are called up to perform their military service in the face of the mobilisation of Belgium’s armed forces in the summer of 1939, Jumet SC withdraws from first team football – in fact, remaining inactive for the duration of the war.
- 1947 / After eight years of inactivity, Jumet SC makes a restart in Hainaut’s Regional League 3. This probably coincided with the moment when the club settled on a new pitch, situated at Rue de l’Alliance.
- 1948 / Finishing in joint second place in Hainaut’s Regional League 3D with FC Farciennes, 3 points behind champions RC Montigny, Jumet SC wins promotion to Regional League 2, probably after winning a tie-break match against Farciennes. Regional League 2 would be renamed Provincial League 2 following the introduction of a Provincial League 1 in the summer of 1952.
- 1954 / Acquiring the royal epithet one year after the club’s 25th anniversary, Jumet SC officially takes on the name Royal Jumet Sport’s Club, or, abbreviated, R Jumet SC. Colloquially, the club is often referred to as Jumet Sport.
- 1956 / Finishing in second-last place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, R Jumet SC descends into Provincial League 3 along with bottom club US Courcelloise.
- 1960 / Champions in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3C, R Jumet SC manages a return to Provincial League 2 after four years, along with runners-up US Courcelloise.
- 1961 / Finishing in second-last place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, R Jumet SC drops back into Provincial League 3 after just one season, along with bottom club ASAC Chimay.
- 1963 / Champions in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3D, R Jumet SC wins promotion to Provincial League 2, along with runners-up FC Baulet.
- 1966 / Finishing in second-last place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, R Jumet SC drops back into Provincial League 3 after three seasons, along with the club in last place, FC Gilly.
- ± 1968 / Moving away from its pitch at Rue de l’Alliance, R Jumet SC settles on a new pitch, laid out at Rue Auguste Delvaux.
- 1970 / Champions in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3F, 1 point ahead of runners-up URS Ransartoise, R Jumet SC wins promotion to Provincial League 2.
- 1977 / Finishing in second-last place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, R Jumet SC descends into Provincial League 3, along with bottom club R Goutroux Sports.
- 1978 / Runners-up in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3D, 1 point behind champions R Châtelineau Sport, R Jumet SC wins promotion to Provincial League 2 – possibly due to extra promotion places being available, possibly after winning a round of play-offs.
- 1987 / Finishing in second-last place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, R Jumet SC descends into Provincial League 3, along with bottom club AFC Roux.
- 1994 / R Jumet SC finishes as runners-up in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3D, 2 points behind champions FC Carnièrois.
- ± 1995 / R Jumet SC acquires the luxury of a second pitch, situated at Sentier de l’Epée, in the immediate vicinity of its main pitch at Rue Auguste Delvaux. This pitch, owned by Charleroi’s municipal authorities, used to be made use of by several recreational football clubs, most notably FC Les Travaux, the club of Charleroi’s municipal workers. For this reason, this pitch was known colloquially as the Terrain des Travaux. When FC Les Travaux folded, alderman Charles Canepa of Charleroi allowed R Jumet SC to use these facilities for their lower team football and training sessions.
- 2000 / Champions in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3D, 1 point ahead of runners-up US Estinnes, R Jumet SC wins promotion to Provincial League 2.
- 2003 / Finishing bottom of the table in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, R Jumet SC drops back into Provincial League 3 along with the club in second-last place, SC Biercée.
- 2009 / R Jumet SC conquers Hainaut's Provincial Cup for teams in Provincial Leagues 3 & 4, defeating EC Erpion in the final, played at the Stade des Marais in Farciennes, following a penalty shoot-out (1-1 in regular play, Jumet goal by Jonathan Devergnies).
- 2015 / Champions in Hainaut’s Provincial League 3C, 3 points ahead of closest rivals Athènes Sport Peronnes, R Jumet SC manages a return to Provincial League 2 after an absence of twelve years.
- 2021 / The main pitch of R Jumet SC at Rue Auguste Delvaux is officially renamed Stade Danny Labay in honour of the club’s longtime volunteer. Danny Labay has served R Jumet SC in various capacities, including physio and youth academy coach.
- 2023 / Finishing in fourth place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, R Jumet SC qualifies for the promotion play-offs, in which the club sees off RUS Herseautoise (2-2 & penalty shoot-out) and RSC Pâturageois (3-0) in the first two rounds. In the final round, a three-way play-off with USC Jemappes and RSC Naastois, with two promotion places being at stake, R Jumet SC sadly loses both of its ties (0-1 at home to Jemappes & 3-2 away at RSC Naastois). As a result, the club misses out on a historic promotion to Provincial League 1.
- 2025 / Finishing in second-last place in Hainaut’s Provincial League 2C, R Jumet SC drops back into Provincial League 3 along with PAC Buzet B and bottom club RFC Gilly.
